OK we have about enough money for us to do a character breakfast one time. We are going the week of Dec 6th. There will be me and dh, DS (8 but a young 8), DS (19) and DS "female-friend" (18 and yes she is staying in a different room from him I ain't no fool  ). So since Dh got laid off we are limited on funds when we go, but I would like to get in at least one character meal since the other female of the group has NEVER BEEN TO DISNEY :scared1: . Where would you guys suggest? and why?

I would also go for Chef Mickey's. We also liked 1900 Park Faire but I doubt the characters would be to your youngest sons liking.

chef mickey gets my vote. but you better get your ADR very soon or you will be out of luck.

For the classic Disney character experience, Chef Mickey's would be my only choice. However, for great food, service, and the "Pooh" experience, Crystal Palace is another option. :)

I would suggest calling to try to make an ADR this afternoon. You might not have a whole lot of options left.

We recently went to Chef Mickeys for dinner and it was really bad.

I'd also say it depends when during your trip you want to go - I usually make a basic plan of what park to hit on what day - and I'd base it a bit on where you want to be on a given day.

Since you mention girls, one that's sometimes not as hard to get is 1900Park Fare. It's quite good, IMO. (not positive if they do breakfast) for a MK day.

Since you aren't on DDP, I'd also consider a Saturday breakfast at Garden Grove at the Swan. The only two characters are Pluto and Goofy BUT you can order off the a la catre menu. You don't have to get the buffet, so you would still get plenty of (better quality) food AND it would cost less. As I recall though the buffest was pretty good. The location, IMO is also nice. From the Swan it's a short trip to either HS or Epcot. (Using WDW transport to get there, I'd probably take a bus to HS, then the free boat to the Swan) I nkow the characters are not there on the weekdays, but they might also be there on Sundays.

Beyond that...CP was the only other character breakfast I've done (we ususally do dinner). Last March, we found the character interaction to be very limited. Teh fresh orange juice is a highlight of breakfast there.

Everyone loves Pooh, right? I love Crystal Palace. I am not keen on character breakfasts (seems like a lot of $$ for breakfast, but I know I am in the minority :) we often do character lunches instead. Big midday meal then just snack in the evening

Have a great time!!

Ohana's with Lilo, Stitch, Mickey and Pluto. It's great food, interactionwas great and a little roomier. I don't think there's really a bad breakfast though.

I think Chef Mickey's is the classic character breakfast experience, and for a first visit with only one choice, I would choose Chef Mickey's. The buffet is really extensive and the quality is decent. Character interaction has never been a disappointment for us at Chef Mickey's.

Chef Mickey's! It's the best character dinnig. The food is wonderful!

That's a good idea, this way we don't have to worry about getting up early if we want, we can relax and then have a big late lunch and light dinner (snack) kind of thing.

Just be aware, some character meals do not do a lunch seating. Chef Mickey's and 'Ohana's, Cape May, Tusker House, 1900 PF don't. CP, Akershus, CRT do, I might be missing some others. When we do a breakfast we usually do one of the last seatings (more like a brunch, but it's all breakfast food). But again, you need to call right away, you might not have a choice of many times.:)
