Sorry.. I kept playing with the poll... I was trying to get it right.

Some folks would rather stay shorter at WDW as long as they stay at their favorite deluxe resort. And some folks prefer to stay as long as possible and stay at the value resort. Some folks have to split to make it work, so they can stay a little longer and still be able to stay at their favorite resorts by splitting their stay.

Which one do you choose to do?

I would rather stay 8 days at a moderate resort than have to cut the trip short with a deluxe. The way we always look at it is how much time do you actually spend at the resort. Our last trip we stayed at CBR and we had a great time when we were there. We just spent much more time in the parks and only a couple of hours hanging at the pool or walking around the resort.

I love the values......I know I am probably in the minority.

We considered a moderate for our upcoming trip but when I was looking at the photos etc....I could not even tell I was at disney....just looked like a nice resort.....sorry this is just my opinion.

When I look at the themeing at the values...I get the butterflies in my tummy....I just love them

I went with longer at a value. I don't use all the 'deluxe' ammenities, the only thing I would miss would be the slide at the pool. And it would be my dd that would miss it...but, if I told her she could have a cool slide or a longer stay, she will always go with the longer stay.

You know, it's funny...but over on the DVC boards, there is always talk about which kind of villa you choose to stay in. There is a group of smaller families, like mine, that have no problem staying in a studio villa. It allows us to stay for a much longer period of time. But, there are others who feel they would never stay in anything smaller than a one bedroom villa...even if it's just two or three people. They say it's too much like staying in a regular room if you use a studio.

Give me an AP and a nice long stay....very happy camper here, whether I'm in a studio villa, or a value resort.

Hockeychic, I'm with you! I would much rather stay as long as possible at WDW and stay in a value resort than spend the extra money to upgrade to a deluxe. We don't spend all that much time in the hotel, so I don't see the value in spending the extra money. However, my husband prefers the moderate or deluxe resorts, so we usually meet halfway and go moderate. Any place on Disney is a happy place for me!!!

8 days at a moderate sounds like the best of everything....too many days at a value would make me crazy and too few days at a deluxe would make me crazy too!

Well I picked 8 days at a Moderate Resort but it all depends for me.

Personally, I would never stay at a value for that long of a time. There isn't enough to do there on the days off and you have to take days off if you are going to be there over 8 days. I probably would try and rent points from a DVC member for a stay longer than 7-8 days. It usually comes out to the same price including taxes/charges to stay at OKW for a week then a value resort for a week. Last year we paid $795 - all fees and taxes to stay in a 1 bdrm w/ full kitchen and laundry at OKW for a week. We loved it.

Next week we are only going for a short stay of 5 days. This is our first stay at the Poly. DH has business and it was a last minute trip. I picked that resort because I don't want to do "commando style" this time. I want to relax and utilize the pools and resort for at least 2 days and I love the relaxing feel of Poly. We even upgraded to concierge. We will spend more on the room then our last 8 day trip but we will save with food and tickets.

So really I think it all depends on how old your kids are, if you need to take afternoon breaks, what time of year you are going, if you are doing commando style or relaxing etc....

But if I have never done WDW before I would do either 8 day moderate or 10 day moderate/value split. I would NEVER go deluxe my first trip. Between commando, gifts, souveniers, character meals - I rather spend the money elsewhere.

Just an opinion, I am sure you will get more.

I chose moderate. I would be happy staying as long as I could afford it. Since I am the only one in my family who can swim, I am the only one who misses the waterslide

Are you taking into account the cost of food when you figure in how many days you can stay? Even though you are staying in a value, if you go 14 days you will spend twice as much on food than if you go 7 days. Plus if you stay mod or deluxe, you will get a free fridge to keep snacks, etc. We do shorter trips and stay in a deluxe. We have been to all 4 parks in 5 days, no problem, and are able to get lots done there because we spend so little time on transportation and we're able to get to the parks right at opening with very little effort. I voted for 6 days with a deluxe/value split. Stay at Pop for the first 2-3 days, and Contemporary or Swan/Dolphin for the remainder. Contemporary Wing standard rooms are the cheapest of the monorail resorts, and S/D offers some great discounts if you can find them. Another option is to rent points at a Boardwalk studio villa Sun-Thurs. This can be done for around $130 night (tax included), depending on the time of year.

Oh yes, I have considered about the food cost for 14 days vs 7 days. But if it means staying at the Value resort longer for about the same price as the Deluxe stay, some would rather consider a much longer.

I didn't want my poll to get too complicate... ex: w/ sit down meals VS w/O sit down meals or No character meals or w/ character meals. Eat "out" VS eat on the property.

I think the 8 days at a mod will give you the best value for your money. I know tons of people say they love the values, and I know if I ever stayed at one I would probably be convinced, but I just can't bring myself to make the reservation. Have fun deciding!

Although DH & I have done a WL/AKL split the last two years, we have ressies for a 3 night POFQ/3 night Poly split this year. Next year we plan to do a 3 night moderate/3 night deluxe split again. We have stayed at all of the values and moderates before so this allows us to try the deluxes without breaking the bank.

3 days at a Deluxe. We love the Grand Floridian and it's one of the reasons why we go to WDW.

I love the Values, too. The only reason I might choose a Deluxe is to be walking distance to Epcot (my favorite park)--so I have stayed at the Dolphin a couple of times. In general, though, I would rather be able to spend longer at WDW and stay in less expensive digs than to stay at a fancier hotel.

Choose the 8 days at a moderate (POR) but I think I'd rather 8 days at a Home-away-from-home or DVC. It's just nicer to be able to have a quiet dinner at "home" as compared to eating out all the time... and it saves $$$
