Ok, I've finally decided that I want one. Here's my dilemna...I can either get the bug for $184 at my local Walmart or spend $299 and get the big E. I'm leaning toward the little bug...I figure that $100 is 2 cartridges (and my first two add ons will be the Disney ones).

Can anyone give me a quick comparison between the 2. I know the E will cut 12 x 12 paper...but I'm not sure I would ever use 12" anything! Not having to cut down paper is a time-saver...but I'm not sure it is that big of a deal.

Do they both have the USB ports?

HELP....what should I do?

The E has a lot of other features that are great. In addition to cutting larger stuff, it also cuts smaller than 1", which has come in handy more than once for me. There is the auto fill feature that will cut a shape as many times as it will fit on the page. There is the quantity key so you can set how many times you want something cut, instead of standing there hitting "repeat last" over and over. You have a choice between cutting landscape, which is down the side of the paper, or portrait, which cuts across the top of the paper. The flip feature allows you to cut the mirror image of a shape. Fit to page will cut a shape the biggest that it will fit on the page, so you don't have to keep playing with the size dial to get to the maximum.

Another nice feature is the LED screen that will show you what is going to be cut before you press cut. I can't tell you how many times I thought I had hit the shadow key or the shift key before hitting cut but I hadn't, resulting in the wrong shape being cut and wasting paper.

Those are the features I have used that make the E worth every penny IMHO.

i want the big e. i have the lil bug. it is great for me. but, i think you get a lot more out of the big one. larger letters for wall sayings etc.

i know a few people that bought the little one and haven't touched it since they bought the big e. i also know a few that have sold the little one and bought the big e.

i say buy the big one if you can afford it. the little one is great and travels well. but, i think the big e is worth buying over the little bug.

Does the E you are looking at come with cartridges? I was at Joann's today and they were on sale for $299 and it came with 2 cartridges.

Yes, Plantin (or something like that) and Accent (I think). Thanks for the FYI on JoAnns. I'm still not sure what to do though since the bug comes with 2 cartridges too.

Thanks everyone.

With the little bug you can do A, B, and C, with the big bug you can do A, B, C and X, Y, Z. but you can't do X, Y, Z with the little one. Does that make sense?

If you have the space then I would go with the big one. I have both, but I would have gotten just the E if it were in my price range at the time.
But the bigger issue, for me anyway, is the space it needs. I don't have a dedicated room for my stuff so when I use the E, I have to use it on the kitchen floor. I typically scrap on the kitchen counter or the family table in the living room. But I will be taking over the dining room some day so the floor is only temporary.

FWIW, my DW has both.

I din't think the smaller machine has been out of the closet since she got the bigger one!

I'm usually just a lurker, but wanted to chime in on this.
I had the little bug and loved it, but got the Expression this year for Christmas. I gave my lil' bug to my daughter, and haven't missed it at all!
The E just has more features, and the display screen is very helpful. It also seems to cut some of the intricate designs better.

"But I will be taking over the dining room some day so the floor is only temporary." (Darned buttons don't work on work laptop :headache: )

DH says I've done that already, but I'm only down one end really  Just because he came home from work while I was cutting colour page swap stuff :lmao:

Good feedback from everyone...thanks so much! Lots to think about.

Hi everyone,

I decided to go with the little bug and bought it tonight. My DS is very excited to break open the box and start playing with it (and so am I).

Thanks for the advice. I decided against the E because of the expense and the weight. Space is a premium for me when I scrapbook and one more bulky craft item will either a) drive me nuts or b) make me spread to the floor and drive DH nuts!

Thanks again,

Karen
