Which one of you took my Poly LV Studio room today?

LOL - logged on at 8am this morning and saw availability at my 7 month window for this room which I REALLY wanted. Went to book the reservation and then it said the room was no longer available. That was 8:01. Gotta have quicker fingers!

Ha! I feel your pain. I've been having some fun watching people walk their reservations as the rooms miraculously come back into inventory two days afterwards. I am a bit frustrated though as we really wanted to stay there the third week of December and I can't see how it's going to happen with people blocking off the rooms. I hope you get your reservation!

Canadiandisneymomma: Same EXACT thing happened to me yesterday- Poly studios (LV and SV) showed as available at 8:00, I hit "book" and suddenly not available.... at 8:01. Arrrrggggh!

Miss the old days before online booking! You would make a ressie at your home resort then call at 7 months and I would almost always get what I wanted. Now I have to cancel my home resort to try to get a 7 month resort. I risk losing my 11 month ressie! No fun! I've been a member for a long time, 1997, and I'm ok with staying at OKW but with both phone ressies and online ressies it is harder to try different resorts each trip.

We booked our Poly reservation in April while on a cruise ship. We were so worried that the slow internet connection would keep us out. Boy were we surprised that everything worked perfectly and we were able to get four nights at the Poly in November. However, since the system switched to December the first night is often gone again at 8:00 am and 15 seconds.

I still think there cannot possibly be that many walking at all of the DVC resorts because this loss of a room at 8:01 happens at many resorts, including BLT and VGF are two I know about. I think there is a system glitch.

I agree totally. This has been going on for years now and, in this case, I just absolutely don't believe that every available studio at Poly is gone by 8:01 a.m. DVC refuses to acknowledge there might be an issue with the website. Imagine that.

I think that many are currently walking December reservations at the Poly and it is not a system glitch. In fact, if it weren't so hard to get a Poly night right now, I think many more would be walking than currently are - you have to get that first reservation before you can start your walk. (Next year, walking here at 7 months probably won't work).

I also tried tried to get a few Poly nights by hitting the button at exactly 8:00 AM Eastern on May 1. Failed. But by following along behind the walkers a day later, I was able to get 3 of the 4 nights I wanted, one day at a time. So now I have 3 separate reservations, which I will ask MS to combine once my waitlist for the missing night comes through. I am cautiously optimistic that I will get that missing night. We'll see.

One thing I noticed - the RAT showed the night available before the booking engine released it. I just kept trying to book it until the database for the booking engine finally updated. As I recall, it took about 10-15 minutes for that to happen. Gotta love the RAT!

I've been having the same issue. When I chatted with customer service they acknowledged an existing system "challenge".

On a good note, I waitlisted and my reservation came through same day.

Not sure I follow your logic.

When the website shows availability, that means as little as one villa is still open for booking. First person to click the mouse wins.

I'm quite sure this "walking" does occur and (sadly) impacts members who are just trying to book exactly 11 months out. But I'm not clear on how any of this suggests a system glitch exists.

Frustrating, isn't it! There are many members trying to get into the Poly for December and they ALL probably know you have to click that book button ASAP after the window opens. I'm sure there are way more trying for the Poly than there is space available. Some of us (maybe most) are going to be disappointed. I'm hoping my waitlist works. Good luck to you, too.

I think part of the issue now is it's the most popular DVC booking time and most inventory was gone for all resorts. I booked Poly for the end of Oct and it was remaining available even until 9am eastern on the days I was checking then.

That won't help. DVC members are only entitled to book the number of rooms that have been declared into the condominium. Right now that is 72 lake view studios, 72 standard view studios and 10 bungalows.

DVD won't declare more rooms into the condominium until they need to do so to keep ahead of sales. Until then, they will give the undeclared rooms that are ready for occupancy to DRC to rent to the general public. Proceeds will go to DVD's bottom line. When Tokelau opens, it will just mean more rooms for DRC. Based on sales so far, I can'[t see them declaring any more rooms for quite some time - probably not until some time next year. Hope I'm wrong. I have a waitlist in play.
