Which one of these days around Thanksgiving would you do MK?

Ok, we have seasonal passes and were there end of May-June and going several more times through end of next May. We have been a lot previously also so this is NOT a trip of a lieftime ;) . Taking a short trip over Thanksgiving for the first time. Can go to a park about 1ish on Wed. Would that be a better bet for MK or Friday morning at 9? I am thinking we want to avoid MK T'giving especially since it is an EMH day, or should we go 8-11 and leave? I do have some PS's but no real effect on this decision. Any advice would be appreciated as I am driving myself nuts over the MK decision!
(ps-we will be at AKL with our own car)

Last year we went to MK in the afternoon on the Wednesday prior to Thanksgiving in the afternoon and it wasn't too bad. We had just gotten to WDW, so we just went over to ride a few rides. It only took about 15-20 minutes to get on Space Mountain without a fast pass. We even rode it twice. I have also arrived on Thanksgiving before, and gone in the afternoon of Thanksgiving and it was horrible. Wall to wall crowds. Last year didn't seem as bad as the first time we did WDW at Thanksgiving time. Last year we did AK on Friday, so I can't help you out there.

Hope this helps,
Melanie

Hey Melanie! Nice to "see" you(and your family). Been awhile since they did away with the Operation Iraqi Freedom Board where we both posted :D !
It is a toss up for MGM or MK upon arrival. I think we may do AK Thursday morning. Thanks for the info, we do want to go to MK Wed. if not too crowded!! My kids are spoiled about no crowds at MK as we are always there at opening. That is my fear!
Have fun on your trip! We love CR:cool: !

Hey! We are also seasonal passholders and going for our first Thanksgiving trip. Where are you from? We live in Hollywood.

Our plan is to drive up early Wed morning and check into WL and then take the boat over to MK. We don't know when we will get there, so we just plan on going on whatever doesn't have long waits. We will be staying until Monday, so we are doing MK on Sun. We've done a lot of research and are avoiding EE for the most part. Here's what we have planned:

Wed- check into WL, MK, break and dinner at Whispering Canyon, back to MK (this night last year they had Spectro and FITS, so hopefully....)

Thurs- Epcot at opening, break around 2pm, boat to CR for Thanksgiving dinner at Chef Mickey's!

Fri- MGM at opening, lunch at Sci-Fi, break, Epcot -dinner at Teppanyaki

Sat- Ak at opening, break, staying in- dinner at Artist Point, DS to Cub's Den

Sun- DS's 6th b-day- EE at MK, break, LTT dinner and MVMCP

Mon- breakfast at Whisipering canyon, leave!

We are avoiding MK between Thur and Sat. I would try to go for EE on Thurs and then go to another park as soon as it gets too crowded.

Thanks Suzy! We want a lunch or dinner at Sci-Fi too! That is the one PS I have not made because I could not make up my mind on when we would be at MGM.
Your plan sounds good. We did 5 nights at CR late May, so this is just a quick 3 nighter. We want to enjoy AKL too :D . We ended up changing around a couple days in May while there and did just fine-being at CR made MK too tempting :p ! We even pushed our 'Ohana breakfast back a day(from our CR phone) and had no trouble with that. I do have T'Giving PS's taken care of. I just usually do not like MK afternoon crowds, but wondering if that is better than Friday at 9.
DH and I have a quick "alone" trip in Oct and I am debating the SAME thing then:rolleyes: -Wed afternoon or Thursday morning in MK(EMH) early Oct. We want to hit more of the thrill rides without the kids(IF any are open and not down for rehab :p )
You will LOVE WL that time of year. We stayed there Dec before last and the decorations were beautiful.:D

Not sure what your best bet would be, but I will share my Thanksgiving experience. To sum it up briefly:

THE WORST CROWD I'VE EVER SEEN ON FRIDAY AT THE MK  !!

No kidding . . . elbow-to-elbow, especially in Fantasyland. We pretty much had to flow with the crowd, since it became impossible to veer off in your own direction. We ended up riding the SkyWay (sniff) to Tomorrowland hoping to escape the masses. We waited 45 minutes in line for it, only to find that Tomorrowland was no better.

I always go to the parks at opening, so I know we were there at that time, but honestly, I don't remember if it was 9:00 or not.

We were thinking that the week-end would be the worst at MK so we specifically avoided Sat-Sun. Boy, were we disappointed when the crowds began to swell.

By comparison, we were at the Studios on T-Day and ate at the Brown Derby. Crowds weren't bad at all there. We ended up at Epcot over the week-end (skipped AK that trip), and really didn't notice that the crowds were any heavier than the usual holiday-type crowd.

If it were me, I'd opt for hitting the MK early, then getting out of dodge!!

MK first, Than Epcot, and Than The studios and than Ak. If AK fills up (usually doesnt) People start heading to DisneyQuest last year the Day after Thanksgiving we had wall to wall people and almost had to clost to capasity.

Your best bet would be to try to go to whatever park your going to the day after thanksgiving as early as possible.

Have a disney day:bounce:
