Which one do you think for around 300ish.

I am looking for a new lens for my Rebel XT; I am looking to spend no more then 300ish. I currently have the kit 18-55 kit lens (which is not bad, but I’d like extra range) and the Canon 50mm. I am looking at the following for a new lens to add to:

Canon or Sigma 55-200
Canon 28-105 f/3.5
Sigma 18-125
Sigma 70-300 APO

I was just about sold on the Sigma 18-125 until I read a lot of people having problems with AF on this lens. What would you recommend it could be any of these or a different one?

The 55-200 makes a nice addition to the 18-55 you already have in the kit.

Given the choice between the Canon or Sigma, I'd go with the Canon. I found it focus faster but I ended up picking up the Sigma 55-200 cheep ($75) on ebay.

I use my Sigma 18-125 for pro apps and never had problem with Auto Focus (no more problem than the kit 18-55).

I'd avoid getting the 55-200 to be coupled with your 18-55 kit just because all those lens changes will introduce dust onto your sensor and your picture will be filled with specks.

One of these days I am going to get The Kelly Lens, just to be able to say that I had tried it. :teeth: Probably going to happen after my DW makes me buy a new camera so she can take mine and my favorite lens :rotfl:

Thanks everyone for your replies. I am still up in the air on which one to get but leaning towards the 18-125.
