Hi! I am going Disneyland in June with my best friend I have not seen in over 3 years. I would LOVE to be able to stay on-site and have budgeted (am working extra) to be able to afford it.

With my budget I have a few choices

I've posted it as a poll above. Please answer and then give your opinion as a reply if you have one! Thanks!

I voted for more nights. Always! In fact it's the main reason that we stay off site. Unlike WDW, there are dozens and dozens of nice hotels within walking (or bus) distance of Disneyland. I'm all for more park days by staying in a less expensive hotel.

Now...we don't spend a great deal of time in our rooms either, so while I want a nice comfortable, clean, safe hotel, I'm not in it long enough to really need a lot of luxury. If we could afford to stay onsite and still stay for a 7-10 days minimum, we'd do it, but the trade off is more days in the park and a place to lay our heads at night.

Whereever you decide to stay...have a great time with your friend!

I should clarify. We will most likely be arriving on Monday June 6. My friend will either leave Saturday or Sunday (depending on airfare costs). I am blocked out from the parks on Saturday as a Deluxe AP holder so our park days will be Tuesday - Friday. Wednesday & Thursday are Grad nights so the parks will be closing early.

After the days on-site we will move to a cheaper off-site hotel. I am more than likely going to stay a few more days solo after my friend leaves as my birthday is June 14th and I want to be at Disneyland on my birthday.

I think this info makes a big difference. I was originally going to pick the longest stay, but after reading your post about your actual length of stay, I've voted for the concierge at PP. Our family's never tried concierge, and it might be fun!

Voted Paradise Pier Standard Concierge but my actual choice would be PP Park View.

Have stayed GC DTD view, DH Pool, DH Park View Concierge and PP Park View.

Found
GC dark and long hall walks, while it is right on the park I think it was actually shorter from PP. Swimming Pool did not appeal to me.
DH is nice, Concierge was great to watch the fire works, it is nice to have a relaxed quick breakfast and wine or beer in the evening.
PP I found the walks to the parks short, appears longer but did not seem longer.
Our Park View room was amazing. I do not know if they are all as nice.
My hesitation with PP Concierge is that I do not think it has a view. Love Concierge but it is even nicer when there is a view/atmosphere.

Hey Paula! Usually I would say GCH - it is my favorite hotel. But it is your birthday and I think you should spoil yourself with concierge service!! I have done concierge at both the GCH & DLH and will be trying the PPH concierge for the first time this August.

It is so nice to have the breakfasts, snacks, drinks and evening cocktail reception - love those chocolate dipped strawberries! If you choose PPH concierge, make sure you mention you are celebrating your birthday and ask about possible upgrade to theme park view room upon check in.

Have a great time!

Hi there! We have stayed GCH standard view and also one time in courtyard view and I would say Paradise Pier BY ALL MEANS. The GC rooms are pretty but seem cramped to me. The PP rooms have a nice couch sitting area that is very fun for conversation, etc.

I have not done concierge at PP but have had both standard and park view and liked both just fine.

Your trip sounds so fun!:hippie:

Really tough. I voted GCH because if that is an option, why not take while you can.

Since your time together will be shorter and the parks will be the priority, I would stay close in the GCH. Enjoy walking through the lobby to the parks quickly each day.

However since you are just going to go somewhere else right after, maybe that should be the hotel you rush from to the parks. Then stay in the PPH Concierge and enjoy the snacks and take some time in the room.

I think you really need to decide what your friend's priority will be.

Thanks everyone for your opinions!

I never dreamed that PPH would be more popular than GCH! It's given me a lot to think about.

My original plan was to stay offsite for the first couple of days and then move to an on-site resort. Then my friend had to change the days she can go and the on-sites add a lot more cost on the weekend so it makes better financial sense to start there then to end there.

My friend is leaving all the planning to me. She is just excited to be able to see each other and to have an awesome time at DL!

I am considering the more days at PPH without concierge as my friend has allergies to dairy, eggs, and wheat so I doubt there will be much available to her. If there were more than 2 of us staying there then it might make more sense.

Another vote for PP Concierge!

I love their rooms, too. Large and beachy feel to them.

I must say though that the refurbed rooms at DLH are to die for. Really well done and the light up headboard is so cool. If their pool is done and you can get a new room with a view, I might choose that option.

I guess we're not helping as much as we could, sorry!;)

Have fun deciding.

PS - Have you decided where you are having your birthday dinner?

I haven't stayed at any of these 3 hotels, but I voted for the option with 4 nights instead of 3 because it would reduce the # of nights you'd have to stay at another place, thus lowering your total lodging costs.

That's exactly why I can't decide for myself! I'd love to stay at all of them!

I have not decided on my birthday dinner. More than likely I will be solo that day so no idea where I want to eat by myself.

My option was not listed. So I shall add it. Make mine a cabana boy, please. And in one hand a mint julep, and the other sun tan lotion, heated please. The lotion, not the mint julep.

I'm a simple gal & went with PPH for the 4 nights. I thoroughly enjoyed staying there last month & I don't need the extra perks of concierge. I stock my fridge with what we want for a lot cheaper than adding that on. More nights in their beautiful rooms with the super comfy beds is a winner in my book!!!

Interesting... overnight GCH took the lead...

I'm still debating lol. I'm pretty much down to the choices picked by most. Either the 3 days at GCH or 4 at PPH. I think I would stay at DLH if the remodel was done but am planning for afternoon breaks and if we want to take a nap it may be hard with construction going on.
