Which of these waitlists has the best chance of filling Dec 2020

We have resigned to the fact that September 2020 is too uncertain. We had a Poly standard view reserved for Sept 12-19.
We put in a waitlist for two different options Dec 5-12
Boulder Ridge studio
Polynesian Standard studio
There are already 2 nights of the BRV option available.

I am well aware that all bets are off this year. But what’s your opinion on which of these has the best chance of filling? Should I cancel the Poly waitlist and put one in at CCV as well? Poly does have a lot more studios so I figured that was a decent chance of filling.

We own at Poly and would prefer to stay there, but we can stay there for the next 40+ years. We have 120 pts so 2020 was our last chance to stay 7 nights on one years points. But Wilderness Lodge would save us points vs Poly

Don’t know which waitlist will come thru but for a December reservation - you just can’t beat the decor at WL - so I hope it’s The Lodge!

I think that a full week waitlist is going to be tough either way. Poly will have a better chance than CCV any time of year let alone December so I'd stick with Poly. I'd look at stalking and trying to piece the dates together, using the WL to try and fill smaller holes as you go, rather than banking on 7 nights becoming available though.

Neither option has a very good chance of coming through if you waitlist the entire week. Your odds improve if you WL just a night or two at a time (using both of your allowed waitlists). I've been able to piece together a 9 night trip that way. It is risky, as you could end up with a night missing right in the middle of the week.

That said, Poly should give you better odds - much larger pool of studios. BUT, you're looking at the most popular week of all for DVC. I'm also a Poly owner and booked that exact week (although we're starting until 12/14) exactly on the 11 month mark. 2 days later the entire week was sold out. Some availability returned for random days over the next few weeks (people walking?), but eventually settled into no availability within a month. I noticed that in May there was a fair amount of availability, (assume cancellations) but it disappeared within a few days and is now sold out again.

Good luck

Steve

I think Poly will be easier..but I would try and grab days as they become available as that would help...then adjust the waitlist.

I’m new to waitlisting. I’m allowed two waitlists per UY. If I start grabbing non-consecutive days, do I cancel my waitlist and create new ones for the days that are unavailable? I was sort of wondering how matching works if there is partial availability.

I probably need to make the decision on cancelling Sept Poly. Right now my waitlists are a “cancel if filled” so I don’t have any extra points to grab other days right now.

I might not grab non consecutive since that would Be difficult with the 2 WL options.

Things change often though, I got 2 Poly nights last week during that timeframe. If you want to go and see other studios it might be worth it to grab those too...just be sure to call MS to have them add a note to waitlist to cancel what you have booked that is the same.

get the 2 days at Boulder and then WL in 2 day increments for boulder. But check at least every other day. more than 2 days is unlikely and your WL won't fill unless all days are there. I've pieced together a full week with WL even single days before.

Thanks. Looks like I’ll have to face the music and cancel my Sept Poly so I have points in hand to be able to start piecing something together.

It's Christmas at Disney!

Oh and you are better off to keep checking and taking what you can get. I wouldn't like myself in to a specific resort until I have a base reservation for around that time I am happy with.

Ok, we bought at BRV cause it’s almost impossible to get ANY studio in December after the 10 months. I’ve had one night WL for a Poly night in October for almost 4 months now...

I wouldn’t count on anything, especially in early December which is high DVC time, yes, even in these dire times.

This was also going to be my suggestion. Whenever I waitlist a trip I still stalk the booking page and snag up nights as they become available. As Sandisw said, the wait list can always be cancelled and put in again for the new dates. I've also used both waitlists for separate nights during my trip so it will book automatically if that night becomes available rather than wait for a span of nights to open. Although admittedly I'm on the booking site often enough that I usually get the date booked myself before the waitlist books it lol

Availability is tight for those but anything is possible this year. Agreed to grab days you can but, be careful not to cancel September entirely and only rebook some of the points if any were borrowed. You could be in danger of them returning to borrowed from year. If that’s not an issue, enjoy re-planning! Poly is probably more likely but, other resorts still have decent availability Nov-Jan if flexible.

take the days available now and work on that if you are sure you're going.
