I'm very eager and excited to start planning our next trip! We're thinking 4 nights/5 days and are open to going out on any day of the week, but the dates I've listed are the earliest we could go/latest we can be back.

These are the dates that I'm looking at for 2014. If anyone has any feedback on when would be the quietest of these times, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks!

April 17th (Thursday) - 27th (Sunday)
May 3rd (Saturday) - May 10th Saturday
May 31st (Saturday) - June 7th (Saturday)

12th April to 12th May is French school holidays in 2014, the busiest time in that period will be when Parisien holidays overlap with any other French zone, so in 2014 that would be 19th to 28th April -

I would also avoid your end of May dates, as Ascension Day in 2014 is Thursday 29th May, a huge public holiday in France and one of DLPs busiest days/weekends of the whole year.

so I guess that leaves May 3rd to May 10th as your quietest time, out of your 3 choices.

We went early May last year, and it was slap bang in the middle of a two long weekends - I think most of May has some kind of public holidays Fri/Mon's as they don't have long school holiday's over Easter. (info was from Carrie last time)

However, I think if you avoid weekends, you should manage ok :goodvibes

Thanks for the replies, sounds like all those dates will be busy! Would it be any better during the week of March 15th-22nd (Saturday to Saturday)?

I've been looking at dates for next year and because there are so many European holidays to look at I ended up setting up a spreadsheet to compare them all!

This what I found based on a few searches online...

April 17th - 27th - All three French zones plus Belgium and the UK have holidays at some point during this period so I would avoid

May 3rd - 10th - there is still one French zone on holiday during this period so I would probably avoid aswell

May 31st to June 7th - there are no school holidays during this period however it is Ascension weekend from the 29th to the 1st. I would therefore avoid the first weekend but would expect it to be pretty quiet from the 2nd onwards

March 15th - 22nd - there is one French zone on holiday until the 16th but it should be quiet from the 17th onwards

Just to add, I've just checked the French bank holidays for last year and we went to DLP during the week after the Ascension weekend and the crowd levels were fine. We arrived on the Sunday afternoon and even that wasn't too bad.

That's really helpful, thank you so much. I had googled school holidays but it was all so confusing. Thanks :)
