When we sailed in March 2002, formal night was 2nd night on board (Sunday.)

I was wondering now which night the formal night is, as I thought I read about a week ago that it is Monday.

Also, is it possible to request a certain dining rotation? (Sorry, I know that these questions have been posted before, but I'll remember this time!)

I'm hoping to get Lumiere's or AP for formal night.

Thanks!

The Formal night for the Eastern is on Sunday and the Western is on Monday.......Andy

Yes, you can request a certain rotation. You can do this in advance by having your TA call DCL. Alternatively, you can go to the "dining requests" session and be changed to what you want after boarding.

Be aware that DCL tries to group families with similar aged kids together. One rotation will be predominately little ones, another primarily adults alone and 10 year old and up children, the third the "in between" kids. Of course, this isn't strictly done as many families have multiple ages of children. However, as DD has increased in age, I've found it nice to be "avoiding" the toddler crowd in the dining room. Late seating also gets you away from a lot of little ones..... That might play a role in your decision to request a particular rotation.

I do agree that it is nice to be in Parrot on tropical night and Lumiere's on formal night, but it isn't necessary.....

Thank you!

And thank you kcashner, about the dining rotation.

I remembered DCL trying to group families according to ages of children, but it never occured to me about one rotation for most w/toddlers, and so on, etc. It makes a lot of sense.

We tried for early seating when we first booked in 2002, and now, there's no way I'd want it. (Cuts in to too much of the day to have to be back earlier to prepare for dinner.)

I think I'll just stay w/whatever's been assigned, since they do try to group according to age of children. (DD's an only child, and she looks forward to meeting a companion!:D )

On the 11/29/03 cruise the Formal night was Sunday and the semi formal night was Thursday. I remember reading here that it had been switched - maybe last fall.

We were on the Magic Dec 13/03 for the eastern cruise. Formal night was still on Sunday and semi-formal night was on Thursday. We had the PLA rotation which gave us Lumiere on formal night, Parrot Cay on tropical night and Animator's Palate on semi-formal night which was great.
