I havent been to DL in over 20yrs. Our kids have never been. We've been going to WDW. I'm thinking of going next year for the 50th, but cant decide which month. 2 of our childrens birthdays are in September, so I was thinking that week. Also, I figure that the weather will still be nice then. But then Im also thinking of December because of the decorations & HM &IASM holidays.Which would be the better choice?

My choice would be December - before school is out for vacation. There is nothing like the holidays at Disneyland.

September can be really hot and crowded, esp on weekends. I too vote for December. It doesn't get that cold and before schools get out the crowds are low. Plus it's beautiful. The good news is December is usually a dryer month (compared with Jan-March)--we don't get a lot of rain, though when we do it usually pours.

I would pick September, but later in the month for sure. The crowds are non-existant and it is a great time to go. We went last year in early December and it was crowded and very cold after the sun went down. Good luck in deciding, have a great time whatever you choose:D :D :D

I noticed the op is from Rhode Island--cold to a southern Californian and cold to someone from New England is two different things. We're whimps when it comes to cold here in So Cal.

I like October and March (I also love November and December but thats been told)

Okay a bad week at DL is better than a good week in Utah... so Im fine with anytime in DL....:)

I've never been to DL in December, but I've been to WDW then and loved it. I would imagine that it would be beautiful in DL in December as well.

However, my last few visits were in late September/early October, which was great. I slightly prefer October primarily because the Haunted Mansion will be redecorated for Halloween by then. (Last year we went in September and it was still closed.)

I'd go for early December, before the Christmas crowds. Weather is usually decent, a little cool at night. The Haunted Mansion will still be decked out, as well as Small World, the hoiday decorations are up all over the park, crowds aren't too bad during the week, and best of all it snows every night on main street after the fireworks (as long as they don't change that for the 50th celebration).

A big "thumbs up" for December!!! The decorations are beautiful and the crowds are light. If you do go in September -- go as early as possible. Late September and October are when many of the major attractions get closed down for maintenance/refurbishments/etc. They're usually all open in early December as everything has been finished in anticipation of the Thanksgiving/Christmas crowds.

Another vote for Dec. I was so WOWed by the decorations. It did rain one day but we just went into the Tiki Room and warmed up a bit.

how is that one. I am thinking of going to DL cause never been there and the boys want to go there instead of DW

It really depends on when your spring break is. It will be crowded but probably no worse than anything you've experienced @ WDW.
