I will be renting an ecv from Apple for our trip. We are renting a car and I have a handicap parking placard. I have read that for AK, EP and HS that handicap parking is close and convenient, but that is not the case for MK...plus at MK you have to deal with the TTC.
I am thinking we may want to valet park at one of the monorail resorts for our MK day. Which monorail resort would be the most convenient and easiest to begin our day at?
Thank you for your help!

Contemporary because you could just use the oath to mk and not have ti get on the monorail unless you wanted to. Since you have a placard it be free.

We plan on doing just that on our next trip. I will be booking Ohana breakfast for the morning we do MK so we will use the valet at Poly.

The problem you may run into is time limited parking at the MK resorts. Their parking is not designed for folks to park for the parks, it's for their guests.

I've gotten several 3 hour parking permits at the Poly when visiting for meals. They say you will be towed after 3 hours.

On the other hand, people say if you are valet parking, you will not be towed.

Not trying to be the parking Nazi... :confused3

That for self parking for valet you can stay all day Disney making money on it do your be fine. Plus if you have a handicap tag it free so you can sty all day.

Thank you for posting this question sksjasams, and thanks to all the people who responded. I had not thought of this, what a great idea!:thumbsup2 I don't use an ECV all the time so I'm a little awkward with it and would rather avoid Disney transportation if at all possible.

They can be very strict with the self parking times, but for valet it is an all day thing. Also if you do not have a handicap tag and you have to pay for valet, you can get you car and leave, come back or go to a different resort and not have to pay again for that day.

you might want a plan b because my dh and i have been stopped at the gate and had to turn around without a ressie for a restaurant in that resort near the time we wanted to valet park...

We asked at transportation at the TTC. They told us that we are NOT permitted to park at a monorail resort to go to MK. We DO have a placard.

The instructions were to use the TTC & use the ferry or monorail. We do park at the TTC. We used the ferry, but it made me seizure (epilepsy). The height of the monorail can produce a seizure also, but we have been lucky so far.

We were told to take the bus from our resort, and not to drive if it was such a problem. There are other bus issues with my scooter, which I won't even get to here.

So - if I am told NO to parking at a monorail resort - then why is it OK for others? :confused3

We are AP holders & go to WDW at least 4 times a year. No one will help us on this issue.

Who did you ask in transportation monorail, bus, ferry or mk parking which is not transportation. You asked the wrong people they are told to tell guest that they can't park in self parking at mk resorts. You can park in valet parking all day because Disney making money off it and if you have a placard then it free. If you ask someone at the resort and they say no ask why and they be the right people to ask. I heard a monorail cm tell a guest that asked how to get somewhere and a resort cm told them they have to take two buses but they didn't so he told them they have to ask someone in transportation because they seethe knew that know. If security won't let you then ask why sometime they put parking restriction if it very busy. When we go to cr they alway direct us to valet then we tell we want self parking we only going to be their for a little and they say okay and direct us to the lot.

The resorts don't provide theme park parking; there is generally signage indicating this at resorts adjacent to theme parks. That valets allow all-day parking is a courtesy (and increases their tips), not a policy.

It really stinks that NO form of Magic Kingdom access required by Walt Disney World of all its guests except those actually staying in rooms at the Contemporary/Bay Lake Towers works for you, but that's the access for everyone else to this specific park. Perhaps look into renting points for a BLT studio?

The bottom line is, non of the monorail resorts were built to accomodate them park parking. I have stayed at the contemporary several times when parking was maxed out. I would not have been too happy if i was not able to park because people were parking there to visit the MK. The solution is to book a dining res at Chef Mickey's or the Wave, valet park (which is complementary to guests with disabilities), dine, and go to the park!
