Can't really decide. Looking for one that will be really decked out for Christmas!!!! Thanks!!!

I would definitely look into the Contemporary...they have a huuuge arcade that would be great for your little boy and they really go all-out for Christmas - here are some pics:

(These are all from All Ears Net - you can stop by there for more pictures!)

*And I'm sorry these pictures are so big!*

I was about eight year sold when my family stayed at the Contemporary. I'd been begging because I wanted to stay at the hotel that the monorail went through! I loved it there, especially the opportunity to eat at Chef Mickey's so easily and to hop on the monorail and go in the morning or walking over to MK. All the resorts are decked out at Christmas with their own themes. The prettiest on the monorail circuit (in my opinion) is the Grand Floridian but I know the Contemporary and Polynesian are equally 'decked out' for the holidays in their own themes. Hoep this helps and good luck deciding!

That certainly won't be the Poly. We were there this past Christmas and honeslty, you wouldn't know it was Christmas at all by the (lack of) decorations. I would say of 3 resorts serviced by the monorail line, your very best bet for decoration is Grand Floridian. Personally, I find it stuffy, but the lobby at Christmas time if magnificent. We're WL'ers for sure and find that it is the VERY best for decorations, but it's not on the rail. As for the Contemporary, I wasn't overly impressed with the decorations, but it is great for kids. Good luck and enjoy.

There are no Disney resorts, and certainly none of the monorail resorts, that would be in any way unsuitable for an 8-yo boy! Depending on your dates, you may have trouble getting a room at any of the monorail resorts this Dec. Make a reservation today!

I stayed at the CR two years ago when my kids were 6,8,10 and we all loved it. They especially loved the pool and waterslide. It is convenient to hop on the monorail to go to MK or the TTC to go to Epcot. The bus service to AK and MGM was excellent. We liked the garden wing better than in the tower. Eating at Chef Mickey's is a must.

Another vote for the CR here.

He'll have the time of his life, and so will you :)

Without a doubt, The Contemporary would be your best bet for an 8-year old.

This was my first wdw hotel stay (besides FW) at the age of 10 and I'll never forget seeing that monorail glide through the Grand Canyon Concourse the first time. And the arcade was huge (I don't know how big it is now was this was over 20 years ago).

If you can't get a monorail resort you might try WL or POR for great decorations and an atmosphere that would appeal to an 8-year old boy.
