I am thinking about upgrading from Pop to a moderate. Which moderate do you like best, and do they share buses with other hotels? What is the difference between the standard and preferred? Thanks for all the help.

I enjoy CSR. It does not share buses with other resorts. THat's one of the many pluses for this place. Another is the main pool. It is by far the best of the mods.

hehe I just did that last night. Decided that I want a little bit more and upgraded from POP. Last year, we stated at POFQ and liked it very much. The only thing I wasn't too fond of was the food court. Currently, we are booked at POR but I am checking to see if anything opens up at CSR. But if we end up at POR, I am still very excited because it just looks so gorgeous and peaceful.

The difference between standard and preferred is the water view. I also belive some preferred rooms come with a king sized bed.

Let us know what you decide! :)

We have stayed at the CBR and POFQ but not at any of the value resorts, we especially like POFQ. We like the location, the theming, we liked the food court because they are the only place in Disney that serve beginets, which are like donut things sprinkled with powdered sugar. We also prefer POFQ because it is the first stop on the bus route with stops in POR to follow, and none of the rooms seem that far from the stop because it is a small resort.

The buses for CSR and CBR are strictly for those resorts but the walk from the stop to your room might be a ways. However, I have always thought that CSR looked interesting. Right now I am working my way into every resort, as you can tell by my signature!:lmao:

Ok now I am thinking of changing our resort from POR to another one. We are not going until Nov 2009 but it doesn't hurt to plan ahead, right?:lmao: `

POFQ is my favorite mod b/c it is small and less people are there and they are picked up and dropped off before Riverside, the food is great, and its really relaxing.

Absolutely loved CBR! The grounds are beautiful, the food court is great and my kids loved the "pirate" pool. Mousekeeping was fantastic - our room was spotless, and lots of towel animals.

Have a great trip!

:surfweb: We have stayed at two moderates, Coronado (CSR) and the Carribean (CBR), we loved them both:love: We did Carribean in 05 and Coronado in 06. The each had their own bus transportation to the parks, The AK bus from CSR went to blizard beach 1st, the rest of the buses were direct to and from the parks.

At CBR, the preferred rooms are closer to Old Port Royal, the main dinning area, and closer to bus stops. There was no preferred room choice when making ressies for CSR so we requested specific buildings, cabana 9 and Casitas 1 so we would be next to the Pepper Market, CSR main dinning area. They put us in Casitas 1, it worked out great, you can walk under cover from the room to the bus stop. (It helped we went in the summer with summer thunder storms) I liked CSR better, the food options were better their as it is one of the convention hotels

We are planning our 08 trip and havent decided which resort to stay in, my vote is to return to CSR, but we will see what the family decides:grouphug: im not sure what kind of vote I get.

Im new to these boards, but it seems that every resort has a thread with folks who just loved them, so im sure which ever resort you choose, you will have a great time:cool1:

Do you have any kids? If so, how old are they? If they are small, then I would choose POFQ. It is a small resort with every room close to the food court and bus stop. The pool is cute with a "beginner" slide. If you have older kids, I would recommend CSR. The pool is one of the best on all WDW with a great slide.

When we go she will be about 1 1/2 yrs. She loves the water now and she is only six months old.

I just want to thank everyone for their input. Thi will really help me in making yhr best decision. I am really leaning towards upgrading from pop.:goodvibes

Ah ... too young for water slides then. It's too bad that non of the moderates have a zero depth pool. The one at CBR is under construction. If that turns out to be zero depth I would recommend that resort, but only if you pay extra for a preferred location near the OPR (food court) and main pool.

I recommend CSR. We had a great time during our trip over the summer. Everything was perfect and the transportation is some of the best I've experienced at WDW.

Are reservations are for sept. 10-22 2008. Will it be under construction then?

I totally agree with you, that is why I am starting my planning early. I have one whole year.

We loved POR. It is beautiful. I think each resort has its own strengths. Like POR has a sit-down restaurant. I don't think the other mods do, or some don't. POR also has a great piano bar/lounge and a pool bar. It also has a baby/toddler pool. It is also on a waterway and you can take a boat directly to Downtown Disney. You can also rent watercraft (paddleboats and little motor boats), surreys, fish, and take horse-drawn carriage rides.

I'm pretty certain that not all mods offer all of these, though some may offer some of these things. I would also guess that the other mods probably have some unique to offer that POR does not.

I have heard that some people don't care for the fact that CBR (or was it CSR) is a convention resort. I think there are plusses and minuses to being a convention resort.

I would ask people what things are unique to the properties, as opposed to which is their favorite. I would guess that most people (including myself) have not stayed at all the mods, and that most people love whatever resort they stay at. I think they are all likely to be very nice - Disney does things right.

Also, why are you moving up from POP? I would go back to POR if I was only traveling with DW. If I was traveling with my DS's, I would go to POP. I might even get two rooms at POP (for the price of one at the mods).

Have fun!

Thank you for all the info, but the reason why I am considering upgrading is because we just got back and people smoked everywhere outside of the designated areas and cigarette butts everywhere. It was crowded and my parents who had a connecting room where kept up all night by their neighbor 3nights in a row and after complaining just to ask them to keep it down, they would not do anything. I have heard that there is less smoking outside of the designated areas in the moderates. Even though I do like Pop I would like to try something a little more deluxe since we will be staying longer and spending more time at the resort relaxing. Pop is nice, but I didn't have any issues last year except crowds and I paid extra for prefered this time and was farther away from the dining hall and buses than last year when I just paid for standard.
