Hi all!

We are considering staying at disney for a few days before our cruise next November. Which moderate would you suggest we stay at? Which has the nicest pool? Our DD loves to swim so that will affect our choice. We will probably be taking the bus to the port as well so this would influence my decision as well. I'd appreciate any imput.

p.s. we are staying at asmusic for a week this Labour day so I am wondering if the moderates are worth all the extra cash or should we stay at a value resort again?

Thanks

Truthfully, we don't like the values--we find them too crowded and too noisy. If you are at Disney for a week over Labor Day, why don't you go over to one or two of the moderates and take a look around and see which one has themeing you might prefer? You will get many differing opinions on moderate choices. We have stayed at the CSR six times (soon to be seven). They have a terrific pool (you don't say how old your daughter is) with a great slide, a kiddie pool, quiet pools, a playground, etc. If we were to choose a different moderate it would be POFQ. We just don't like the themeing of the POR or the CAR.

my favorite moderate is the CBR. it is the most spread out, and each of the different islands have their own quiet pool, as well as a main pool. the food court is also very good with a good selection. however, the main pool at CSR is the best one. and i do think paying the extra money for the moderates are worth it, as they are much better quality than the value.

I Highly recommend the Carribean Beach Resort:banana:  They are currently refurbing their pool so when you go it will be brand spankin new!! The resort itself is beautiful.:thumbsup2

CSR!! Great pool, transportation, atmosphere and food options. Check out my CSR website below for pics and info.

we loved por so much over christmas, that we will be back there in 177 hours. the theming is absolutly beautiful. it is a great place to get away. we are the kind of vacationers who spend alot of time relaxing at the main pool, quiet pool and in the resort. the lifeguards played games with the kids while in the pool all day and night. they have an arcade for the kids, bikes you can rent to ride, and the boat ride to dtd was a great extra. their food court was also really good (the pasta station!!)

I recommend CSR! The main pool area is fantastic as is the transportation to the parks.

I love CSR for the atmosphere, great CM's and the deluxe-lite feel. CSR offers a spa, salon, full menu room service and fitness center not to mention a terrific main pool area and the best transportation that is not shared with any other resort.

One of the PP's had a great suggestion. Check out one or two of the moderates before you decide to see which ones you like. Take a bus there, that way you can check out their transportation system and you can even order from their CS restaurant to see if you like the layout and the service. Good luck with your decision! :)

I agree. Oh and my vote goes to POR! My DS loves their pool slide. They have alot to offer there for kids.

I think it depends on what theme you like
because each are themed different.

POR--Is themed like the old South--there is the Mansions
(Plantations Homes look--like Gone with the Wind) and Alligator Bayou
(very country/rustic lke living on the Bayou in Louisiana--Cajuns--Twig furniture--patchwork quilts)
Both sections are very Nice. This Resort has great TS and CS
Restaurants. Beautiful Landscaping. Boat to DTD is fun.

POFQ--Themed like New Orleans French Quarters and is the smallest
MOD. Loved the Wrought Ironwork at this resort and
the unique shaped roof tops which remind me of Paris (The Aristocats). Loved all the courtyards
and the little street layout. Very Romantic.
We really enjoyed our 1 day visit to this Resort and will be staying
there on our upcoming trip.

CSR--Themed like Southwest (cactus, adobie) Coastal Mexico, and Old
City Mexico. There are Courtyards with fountains. This is a very pretty resort.

CBR--Theme like the Carribeans which has very bright colors
and each section is a different Island Name.
I've never stayed here but from the pictures it looks very nice.
We hope to stay there in the future.

I looked at all the moderates. Overall, if your traveling with kids, CSR looks really nice and looks very kid-friendly. If you are very active :jumping1: I would pick there. If you want a serenity treatment and is still very kid-friendly I would pick POR. French Quarter and Carribean Beach are in between. Remember the advantage of staying at a Port Orleans resort is that you have full amenities to both resorts:cool1: (I think :confused3 ). Just my opinion.

Have a super-de-duper trip!

I agree about the values 100%. I think the best themed pools of the moderates are CSR and CBR. The moderates are definitely worth the extra money. They are much quieter and more relaxing. The rooms and resorts themselves are nicer. I stayed at the POP to see what the hype was all about and learned the values are not for me.

I have stayed at POR and CSR and have visited both of the others. I’ll preface this of course by stating you will get multiple suggestions for all of them so I will just go over the Pro/Cons of them all (actually 3 of them because I don’t have enough experience at CBR)

POR- The resort is the most removed of the 3 I will review. By this I mean it is a bit quieter then CSR or POFQ. This is the resort I would chose if you wanted to be able to almost forget you are in the hustle and bustle of Disney in the evenings. The bus service can be a bit slow from what I noticed. The Old Man Island pool and playground is very nice.

POFQ- This is the most self contained of the 3. It isn’t quite as spread out and the buildings are pretty close. It is not as remote feeling as POR but if getting from the bus to your room in the shortest possible time is a priority than this one is for you. I personally don’t think the pool is all that great though.

CSR- I love the Spanish colonial theming of this resort and the dig site pool is the largest pool on Disney property. It is a very nice pool and there are some quiet pools if you are looking for something less crowded pool-wise. The resort is very large and the bus service can take a little longer because it has to make at least 4 resort stops as it circles around the resort. I think the best food court area of all the resorts is the Pepper Market but do a little research on how it works because it is different. I don’t mind the large size or the conventioneers but if those things bother you than this is not your resort.

Hope some of this rambling helps you.

We've stayed 3 times at the POFQ. The pool is great for kids (king Trident riding a serpent). It is the smallest, thus easy to get around. It has the feeling of a deluxe resort, for the price of a moderate.

The great thing about both the POR and POFQ is that you can take the free water taxi to Downtown Disney. We check in, then take the watertaxi to Downtown Disney for the evening. At night, we take the watertaxi back and watch all the fireworks from various parks on the water.

We have stayed at 3 of the 4 moderates and CBR is by far our favorite!! It has a nice laid back Caribbean feel to it. Sort of like a vacation within a vacation. We had great housekeeping, got our room request granted, had fun at the pool, and always encountered happy & friendly CM's everywhere. The food court is huge and has a lot of great choices and good service. The grounds are beautiful, especially at night! We stayed in the Jamaica section and really enjoyed the 5 minute walk across the bridge (with Caribbean music playing) to the pool/food court/gift shop. The kids say it was their favorite resort too!

CBR is also in the process of getting a new pool. It looks like it is going to be really awesome! And CBR has the largest rooms of all the moderates.

As for the other moderates. . . I probably wouldn't stay at POR after what I saw on the buses at POFQ, they share (stop at POFQ first) and lots of times the bus would be full by the time we got to POR and those poor people would have to wait on another bus. POFQ was okay, very small though. And we wouldn't go back to CSR.

Good luck with your decision and happy planning!
