We are going to WDW for the 1st time in Feb 06. I've been debating to where I want to stay. I wanted to stay at ASMo for the kids but cheerleading competition will be going on and I don't want to be around allot of noise. Then I was thinking of WL but that's just too pricey right now. So now I need help figuring out which MODERATE resort is the best. I would love to have the Disney feel, close transportation (b/c we will be eating at other resorts for breakfast and dinner) Can someone please help me figure this one out????? It will be me, my husband, and our 2 kids DD 4 yrs old and DS 2 yrs old. TIA!!!!

Hi,

You'll get a lot of different opinions on this one...I suggest you take a look around this link and click on all the moderates listed down the left side of the page to see which appeals to you the most:

http://www.allearsnet.com/acc/faq_hot.htm

Also do a search on these boards and you'll find lots of other opinions.

One more thing: unless you will have a car, it will be very time consuming to eat at other resorts. You need to allow at least 45-60 minutes each way to get from resort to resort via WDW transportation.

we just got back from our first stay at POR and we really loved it.it's a very pretty resort,we enjoyed the food at the food court and boatwrights,my kids loved the main pool and the one near our room, hubby and kids went fishing at the fishing hole, they enjoyed that. your children are younger then mine, but they do have an arcade with lots of games to play, there is a playground which my youngest enjoyed. I would recommend the POR.

We really like POR. This is probably our favorite moderate. Have a fun time where ever you stay!

I would also vote POR for you. Beautiful resort! Great place for us when our kids were younger (and I'd still go back with them older) The one thing that stands out for you is the boat to DTD. You will have lots of eating options there, plus you can catch buses to the other resorts for dinners etc.

We really like Coronado Springs resorts the best. We've been to all the moderates and this one worked best for our family.

The kids like the pool and we like the food court the best out of all of them.

THE PROS
No sharing bus service with other resorts
Centrally located with short rides to the parks
Largest hot tub on WDW property
Awesome main pool area with bar, snack bar, playground and kiddie pool
3 quiet pools
New shuttle service eliminates long walks to any of the villages
High speed internet service
WiFi available too
Free use of the gym
Spa
Fridge in the room
Coffeemaker in the room
Iron and ironing board
full room service menu
2 arcades
beautifully landscaped
central air, not a noisey wall unit

THE CONS
Full size beds (kings size beds are available)
one sink

IN THE MIDDLE
The Pepper Market is either a love it or hate it place. We love it but some folks just don't care for it.

Convention resort - some guests don't like seeing other guests at work. Doesn't bother us and helps keep the buses empty. GF, Cont, BW, Y & B Club are also convention resorts.

I'd have to add another one to the POR vote for the already mentioned reasons and additionally the following reasons:
1. LEGAL pool hopping...yes you CAN take a boat or stroll on over to POFQ and use their pool as well as this one. So you get two Moderate level pools and at least 5 quiet pools for the price of one.

2. Breakfast at Boatwrights! Blueprint omlettes and Sweet Potato Pancakes with Pecan Butter cannot be beat. Dinner was fine but not outstanding like the breakfasts.

3. Bob Jackson! He's the piano man in the River Roost Lounge and he's a blast for all ages. Tons of fun to catch his show.

The first time we stayed at POR we were kinda far from the main bldg and while it's a beautiful serene pleasanly relaxing place, a long walk can be the last thing you want at the end of a long day of walking around the parks. Honestly it's about a 5-6 minute walk at most, but it just seems long after all the walking. This time we were in bldg 16 and it was quite close, 14 is the closest.

We love POR and have always had pleasant friendly service from CMs and plenty of peace and quiet which is much needed after the parks.

Have FUN choosing the resort that is best for you, I can only speak of this one because we are a family of 5 so this is our only option. I'm sure though from all the loyal fans of POFQ, CSR, and CBR on here that all of the resorts are wonderful in their own unique way! :)
