What would you consider the best of the moderate resorts for a family of all adults? We will need to book 2 rooms and we will only be visiting WDW parks and DTD and would prefer not to rent a car.

We've stayed at POR and really enjoyed it, very relaxing and lush grounds, we like the food at the restaurant and the piano bar is nice, great pools. The boat ride to DTD is enjoyable too. This trip we're staying at CBR for a change,. So, I can't really compare, but I can say that POR is enjoyable.

We have stayed at POR FQ, CBR, and CSR and prefer POR FQ over all of them. It is more compact than the others and no matter where you are you aren't far from the bus and main building, and the theming is wonderful. The pool is great for kids (even though we don't have any young ones anymore!) and has a dragon waterslide. You can pool hop to POR, and there is a great perk: a boat to Downtown Disney that is WAAAAAAY better than the bus service to there.

We were going to stay at POR on the next trip so we could say we tried all the mods after we stayed POR FQ in Dec, but ended up booking POR FQ again in April, Sept, Oct, and Nov. We really like it there!

I agree with northie - POFQ. The size of the resort, the theming, the pool, & the boat to DTD. The buses are shared with POR but POFQ is first on & first off. I love getting up early in the morning to walk around the resort. After a quick stop at the food court to get a cup of tea, I walk along the river. It's very beautiful in the morning - can't wait to go back!!;

Thanks so much for the good information. We are going in early Sept and are staying at POR FQ.

I am a morning person -- that sounds delightful, can't wait.

We've stayed at CSR, POR, and CBR. I definitly like CSR the least of the 3. Too spread out and we didn't like the food court as good - you have to go through the checkout line even if you're refilling the mugs, which was kindof a pain. POR is beautiful - but looks like home (yep, we live in the boonies!).

So my favorite of the moderates is CBR - like your in the islands at WDW!

It really depends on the kind of atmosphere you like best! Our favorite is CSR by far, but we also like CBR. We like a more tropical or Mexican feel and less of the Sassagoula River business. To be honest, they're each beautiful and have their own pros/cons. You really can't go wrong, so I'd say just pick the one you think is prettiest!

for me, my favorite is CSR. The theming is great, the grounds are beautiful, the main pool is big and very nice, great pool bar, food court, lounge and gift shop. i would highly recommend and if you check out the thread on CSR, i'm sure you'll love everything you read and see!!

I have stayed at and enjoyed them all. CBR is my favorite because I love the tropical theming and the distinct, pretty villages. POR and POFQ are nice because they have the boat to DTD which is very pleasant. And CSR being a convention resort often feels deserted during the day. It seems to have the least amount of little kids around.

I do have to say that I think the pool situation at POFQ is not great for my family. It only has the one pool and the slide is geared more for littler kids. We really missed the quiet pools of the other mods when we stayed there. You can use the pools at POR but that's not really all that convenient. POFQ is also the only mod that doesn't have a full service restaurant, so if that is important to you that might be a factor. I agree the compact nature of this resort is nice but on the other hand I enjoy the spread out mods, I like to explore them and never mind the walking . I would check out the slide shows of each of the mods on www.allearsnet.com and see what appeals to you the most.

Personally for a group of adults I think either CSR or CBR would be nice (they neither one share buses). CBR's pool is being refurbbed for the first half of 2008, don't know when your trip is so be aware of that.

They are all four unique with lots to offer. You just have to decide what amenities are the best fit for your group.

CSR for sure! Best transportation of the mods, best pool and slide of the mods and its a great resort. Check out my CSR website below for pics and info.

Just my husband and myself stayed at CSR in January and absolutely loved it. We choose it for a number of reasons. The resort does not share busses with other resorts. Being a convention resort the busses and pool is not as busy as attendees are in their meetings. We did not have any issues with rowdy attendees either. CSR is a step up in the moderate class- it has a spa, gym and beauty salon. Also the rooms have central air- and actually this was one of my deciding factors- I hate those wall units they are loud and keep me awake. The mattress' are deep pillow top mattress'. I slept very well every night. And the margaritas were very good at the pool bar! You just cant go wrong here.

After staying at POR last month. It's been about 10yrs since our last stay there. I would rather stay at CSR.

I have only stayed at CRS, but will definitly be going back there for my next vacation. Everything was so perfect and beautiful, DBF and I dont want to risk being let down by another resort since our expectations are so high after staying at Coronado! During our next stay we plan to take little trips to walk around each of the resorts we like and would consider staying at to get a better judgement for next times booking. But hands down, LOVED CSR.

POR is awesome and has a great bar, gift shop and food court.

To me the over all feel of CSR remains a favorite of mine with POR being a close second. I personally don't care for the theming at all at POFQ and I am not sure you could pay me to stay at CBR again ;) I think for adults CSR might be the best bet IMO.
