Which MK Resort?

We're never stayed at any of the MK resorts - we've always been fans of the Epcot resorts. But now we will be traveling with our (by then) 3 year old and thought that we would like to try one of the MK resorts.

Here's our situation. There will be four of us traveling together - DH, DS3, and DM. We must have two bathrooms, so we either need two rooms or a suite. Any suggestions on the cheapest way to do this?

Theme wise, I think we would prefer either the GF or the Poly. However we would be willing to try anything. Is it true you can walk from the CR to the MK? If so, how far is that?

Also, we weren't really considering the WL, but I've heard some great things about it, so I thought I would ask. How long is the boat ride to the MK, particularly compared to the monorail? Everyone has told us how conveniant the monorail is, I just wondered about the boat in comparison.

I can't speak to GF, CR or WL, but our family, DH, me, 2 DStepsons, MIL and FIL stayed at Poly GV about a year and a half ago and we LOVED it!!! We had two connecting rooms so had two bathrooms - I think at Poly, going GV and requesting connecting rooms is the cheapest way to get two bathrooms. I am expecting a DS and the next time we go back with all three boys we will DEFINITELY stay at the Poly again.

Since you will have a 3 year old my suggestion would be for the Contemporary. They are the only Magic Kingdom Resort where you can walk to the Magic Kingdom and when taking the Monorail back from the Magic Kingdom, they are the 1st stop.

My vote would be for the POLY, although I have not yet stayed there. I hope to be able to afford to stay there soon! It's beautiful and only one stop from the MK.

I love the CR. The walk to the MK is short. The monorail is oh, so convenient. And the rooms are decorated (IMHO) the most beautifully of any Disney Resort. The CR rooms are surpassed in size only by the Grand Floridian, too. Nice, nice rooms, and the view is spectacular no matter which side of the Tower you land.

The WL is fantastic, too. My DD (age 2 last summer) made the boat ride just fine. There was never a wait of more than a couple of minutes. The boat ride was beautiful and quick, too. You could choose a boat to the CR and take the monorail anywhere you wanted to go. Or you could choose a boat to the MK. The lobby of the WL is breathtakingly beautiful and the whole resort is themed so majestically. You really feel special staying there.

I recommend the CR. It is close to the MK, plus it is the first monorail stop on the way back, and with a 3 year old that is a big factor IMO. I would also look at the Polynesian, but their rates are often much more than a standard garden view room at the CR.

Whichever resort you end up picking, have a great vacation!

The boat ride from WL to MK is not particularly quick, but it is very relaxing! One of the reasons that I love WL so much is that you actually feel like you are miles from civilization. But then that boat goes out just a few feet and makes a turn, and all of a sudden, there is the Contempoary Resort & Magic Kingdom!

The trip we'll be trying this out on will be a very short one for us - maybe the shortest we've ever done. We're only going to be there three nights and four days because we're also doing the same amount of time at a beach resort because of a conference; we should be very relaxed by the time we get there. We're not going to want to spend much time around a pool or lazing around the hotel since we'll just have done that for days.

The CR does sound promising for its location... it was originally the one I was least interested in because it seems the least kid oriented in some ways, and this trip is for DS. I know no resort at Disney is truly not good for kids, but do you think it would seem special to a 3 yr old boy?

Also, how much do you see and hear the construction? My Mom HATES being able to hear construction noises, and she'll probably be there in the afternoon sometimes with DS for his nap. Can you pay to be somewhere away from the construction where you can't see or hear it, and if so, what would you request?
