My 4 day cruise has now been reduced to a 3 day...

Anyway, I really want to do Palo. Which restaurant would be the best one to skip for Palo? Thanks

I don't know which I would skip, but don't skip Animator's Palate, It's amazing!

We usually skip Parrot Cay. If you haven't been on the cruise, you want to see Animator's Palate and Triton's.

I hated Tritons, that is the one I would skip if I had to skip one. Parrot Cay was my favorite.

We have been on the cruise before and have worked out the perfect solution to this problem.. Have early dinner at 6:00 and then you can have another dinner at Palos from 8:00 till 9:30.. I admit it is a bit much. But I can not pick any one to give up. I Admit its dirty work but someone has to belly up to the bar and do it... ;)

That's scary.:)

I think Palo's is overrated - I wouldn't skip on of the regulars for it.

You will get a lot of different opinions on this. It really depends on your taste. We thought the whole AP thing was highly overrated, but my DH loved the veal chops (it was his favorite dish on board.) We didn't care much for Tritons. DH said the garlic beef dish he had tasted exactly the same as the beef dish he had the night before in Parrot Cay, and that the potatoes were terrible. I was very disappointed in the souffle with chocolate sauce. It was tough and chewy. I couldn't eat it. I loved the balsamic dressing on the field greens salad, however, and the hazelnut puff was our favorite dessert, by far. Our favorite restaurant was Parrot Cay, but a lot of that had to do with our mood-it was the only night we weren't completely exhausted.

We didn't eat at Palo, but if I had to skip one of the others to do so, I would definitely skip Tritons. You'd be exchanging one dress-up meal for another, and Tritons is the only one of the three that doesn't involve some type of "show."

Have a great cruise!

If you've already been on DCL and have seen the Animator's show then I'd say skip that one.

We did a 4-night in 1998, so we've done all four restaurants (though the menu's have changed since then). I was going to skip Palo on our 3-night this coming January, figuring we've done it and don't need to do it again -- don't get me wrong, we LOVED it there! My husband, however, quickly changed that -- he wants the chocolate souffle. I couldn't possibly eat two meals in one night, so we're in the same boat -- trying to decide what to skip.

We were on the Magic in 1998, so I really want to eat at Triton's (HUGE Little Mermaid fan here!). So we're debating between Parrot Cay, which has fantastic food, and Animator's Palate, which has the great "show". It's a tough call. We've decided to let the menus decide! I'm not fussy at all so my husband is going to check the menus of PC and AP and decide what to skip from there.

Basically, you'll get to dress up at Palo, so if you skip Triton's it's not the end of the world. While the "show" is neat at AP, a great meal somewhere else would probably give you better memories if you aren't going to enjoy the food at AP. And Parrot Cay has great food, but there's nothing extra special about the restaurant as a whole. And you could eat at Parrot Cay or Triton's one day for breakfast or lunch if you skip the dinners. So I say, let the menus decide! Read all three and pick the two you like best!

It doesn't matter which cruise you're on, we usually skip lunch. Between breakfast and dinner, I'm stuffed!! Trying to fit lunch in between there is way to hard. And I'm not a little guy (250lbs or so).

But back onto the "real" topic...
If this is your first cruise, I would not skip any of the dinners. Each restaurant has its own personality and menu. Yes the food at Palo is truely outstanding, but we also make it a point to have dinner as a family, so Palo is out for dinners. On the 7 night cruises, we partake of the brunch and it is marvelous!! If this is NOT your first cruise, skip the restaurant that you liked the least last time (decor or food) and choose that night for Palo.

That's the thing about Disney Cruises, you have to make some difficult choices about what to do, where to eat, and still try to find some time for a little sleep.

I truly foundthe Animator's Pallette show a bit of a letdown. Personal opinion, and perhaps the buildup on these pages whetted my expectations for more than occurred.
That said I truly found ALL of the restaurants equally good and there is always "Double dipping" where you eat lightly at your regular supper and eat late at Palo.
Don't stress yourself out over it though. The meals are great and I'm sure you won't be disappointed with the meals at any of them.
Cheers,
Grumbo

We'll be on the Wonder November 6-9, our first DCL cruise. We hate to miss any of the restaurants and have considered getting dessert at Palo's one night. Although Mike Wolfe's plan sounds pretty good too!

Is it worth visiting Palo's just for dessert?

I wouldn't miss any of the dining rooms. I enjoyed each one. We have only been to Palo once and it was nice, but to be honest, we prefer the main dining rooms.

Now, what I did enjoy on the 3 day cruise was the Wine Tasting event at Palo. There is a lovely view from the windows (when we had dinner there, it was dark), and it was a nice afternoon activity.

I checked the navigators posted on Barb and Tony's site and it looks like this event is offered on Friday from 3-4:00 (see link: http://www.disneycruiser.info/w3day2.htm ).

There is a charge for this event ($12) and you have to make reservations. We didn't have to rush to get our reservations for this, in fact, I believe we made them the morning of the event.

If you must have dinner at Palo, I would suggest you go to both dinner in a main dining room and Palo on the first night (don't eat a lot at lunch). By the third night you will have had so much food, it will be much harder to eat two meals.

I couldn't tell you how Palo's is because I'm a teen, but my mom has been to the Brunch and she absolutley loved it!

Now I've only been on the seven night cruises (Eastern and Western) so I cannot tell you how Triton's is (Although the Passporter gives it a good reputation) I do LOVE Lumiere's though. It's my favorite restraunt.

Animator's Palette is a nice restraunt and I love seeing it become all colorful. If this is your first cruise then you should see it. I will admit though that after you've seen it, it isn't as special.

Parrot Cay is my least favorite restraunt. I just don't like it that much. I love going there from the Character Breakfast (7 night), but I would rather do Topsiders (Beach Blanket) or room service for lunch. Dinner it is my least favorite because it is like the Disney restraunts at Disney World. I, being a annual passholder, Florida resident, and official Pixie for Gifts of a Lifetime, get enough of these restraunts.

My opinion...if it is your first cruise you might want to skip Palo's...or eat light at Parrot Cay and then go to Palo's. If it is your second or thirty fourth (Barb and Tony, I believe) then you should skip Animator's Palette or Parrot Cay. Unless you don't like to dress up...then you might want to skip Triton's.
