Which massage would you recommend to someone who has never done one on board? We will be on the Dream. Thanks!

It really depends on what you're willing to spend/how much of a package you want to do. Have you had a massage before?

I rarely get a massage on a cruise ship, but I love hot stone massages. Google a video for a better idea of what it is. I love them because the heat from the rocks feels so good and for me it increases the benefit of the massage.

I love hot stone massages and was seeking that onboard. However, when it came time for online booking/checkin I could only get an appointment for the last sea day of a 7 night cruise. I was concerned that despite my best efforts to not get sunburned all week, my hot stone experience would be ruined if I had too much sun on my back.

I did book the bamboo one for the second sea day instead based on availability. Never had that before so it seems unique to this trip for me. And similar in technique.

The massages vary in prices and time, and keep an open mind when booking based on what is available, or try once onboard too.

Hope you get something wonderful!

Is there a list/catalog of the spa services you can look at before your window opens?

I remember when there used to be buttons with pictures on your "my cruise" page - now it is just words and links. (Not a fan of this style - I liked the old page.) And I can't find things that used to be available for browsing/marking favorites now.

I was on the Dream last month and got the Swedish massage. Loved it!

It wasn't wimpy was it? I've been disappointed by some local massages at home, but i really want a deep nice massage on our next cruise :worship:

I had the volcano stone massage on the Magic a few weeks ago. It was amazing! I also did the alone time package another day in one of the private spa villas. It was also truly wonderful! You get a private room/balcony with a hot tub to enjoy, tea, fruits, and a massage. Definitely recommend it on a sea day so you have a pretty (and private) view.

This spa menu is available without logging into your reservations.

Once you can do online check-in, the same descriptions are available by clicking the individual service under Onboard Activities when attempting to book.

+1 for the hot stone massage. It's a little bit of heaven....

It was so relaxing I wanted another hour. Her name was Alex. She was very atentive. I also like that she wasn't too pushy about selling products. Or maybe I gave her a good stern face that said don't ask me again lol.

I like the hot stone best. The Swedish is good, too, just your basic massage but nice. The bamboo was too intense for me. Hurt more than it felt good. To be fair, she did warn me before we got started, but it was still just too much for me. Haven't tried the thai poultice.
