DH and I will be in our tent but were only able to get a full hook up site. I'm a little nervous about being in our tent next to everyone in their RVs so any suggestions for a loop which might be better than some. Preferably close to the Meadow Complex.

LOL, at full hook-up, you're looking mostly into Trailors. The sites aren't quite big enough for RV's. The RV's usually go for the preffered loop.

Don't worry too much, we went camping in an itty bitty kiddie pop up tent at a preffered loop because I wanted to bring the dog. Now I know better. We stay at a p/h-up site and leave the dog in the kennel. Although if prices are good, I might get a preffered site when I go up there at the end of October with my mom and brother. I kinda miss having Kiani around me.

1200 is a good loop right next to the Meadows area.
900 is a small loop across the street.
800 is close as well but a much larger loop so will have quieter sites.

Full hook-up loops take the 45' motorhomes as well as tents. There is plenty of space for a tent in the full hook-up since the pad that the MH usually sits on is way long and the area that the tents get set up on are at the back of the pad and more into the woods. Nice location back there.

The only problem I would have with the 800 loop would be that it is a pet loop and the 900 loop is a pet overflow loop so if you are next to a camper with a loud dog it might not be quiet enough for you.

1000, 1300 loops are good loops also.

Actually, the full hook up sites are larger than the preferred sites. I know - I measured them. The preferred sites are in the original FW area. Full hook up sites are in the "newer" section of FW and actually are not only larger, but spaced farther apart. Many of today's TT's are larger than a lot of motor homes - just take a look at some of the fivers on the road today.

The "newest" camping loop is the 2000 loop, opened in 1976

Here is the history (from my Fort Wilderness Fun Facts and Information Page )

Fort Wilderness opened November 1971 on 750 acres between the Contemporary Resort and the Walt Disney World Village. At that time it had 231 camping sites including loops 100 - 600.

June 1973 added 481 sites, loops 700 - 1900

April 1974 Pioneer Hall opened

June 1976 added 113 sites, loops 2000 - 2100

June 1976 River Country opened

April 1979 added Creekside Meadow group camping area

December 1986 added 383 trailer sites*, loops 2200 - 2800

* the current sites of cabins had rental Terry Trailers on them

As ftwildernessguy said, the preferred sites are kind of packed in.

You'll have fun regardless! On our first camping trip we stayed in a preferred loop in our tent. We were surrounded by motorhomes, BUT it was so quiet and we frequently had the comfort station to ourselves. The only problem we encountered was that the sandpad was quite small. Now we stay in partial hookup loops so that the tent will have more space around it.

We stayed in the 900 loop in July. Great loop, quiet and there were a couple of tents. Have fun.

Thanks everyone for your replies.
