Which lagoon view rooms have the best view - GF or Poly?

We will be in Disney for almost 2 weeks and the kids can't agree on where they want to stay.

I want a lagoon view room in the Tahiti building at the Polynesian. My daughter is dying to stay at the GF. We can afford the garden view at the GF but the lagoon view rooms are a bit more $ than I want to spend.

Which has better views in terms of the castle and the fireworks.

Hands down it will be the Polynesian! The GF is off to the side, whereas the POLY is directly across from the castle. If you are not staying in a lagoon view room at Tahiti, or Hawaii (concierge longhouse)... you can walk over to the beach and swing in a hammock or sit in one of the beach lounges while enjoying the fireworks! That is what we did this past Christmas.

I have to disagree. The Gf is actually closer to MK... when we stayed in Conch Key the view of MK and the fireworks was amazing! From the Poly it was good, but farther in the distance.

I'd have to say the GF, IF you get the MK view. We had the lagoon view from the Polynesian in Hawaii, so that's what I have to compare it to. At the GF, there are three different lagoon views, depending on which building you are assigned to. We have stayed in all three. One is a direct castle view facing northeast, one is a lagoon view with the castle to the side facing east, and the other looks south towards the Polynesian & Wedding Pavilion. All the views are nice, so not to worry!

If the Polynesian lagoon view is what is in your budget, that's what I'd pick, save the GF for some other time.

The GF lagoon location is twice as close as the Poly, unless you like seeing the castle at half-size, choose the GF. If you dont get a lagoon view room, head out to the beach or other location and watch from there.

Yes, that's totally true. We had the perfect castle view in Conch Key... but when we stayed in Sago Cay we watched the fireworks from Gasparilla Grill most nights... and one night from Narcoosee's.

Don't worry about spending big bucks on viewing the castle. Both the Poly and GF have great beaches from which you can view the fireworks if you can't afford anything more than garden view.:D

CaliforniaDreaming-expert of everything Disney: Could you tell me what building at the GF had the direct and best view of the castle? I keep thinking about that disney commercial that shows a bellhop/resort employee opening a balcony door and letting the guests see the great castle view. I wonder if that is real or just fixed for the commercial.

Also, isn't Contemporary closer to the castle or does the parking lot get in between to make the GF a better view?

Thanks again, Carolyn

Well its like this.

All most all of the Polynesian lagoon rooms have good views of the castle and fireworks.

At the Grand Floridian some of the lagoon view rooms have better views of the castle and fireworks, but not all lagoon views rooms have good views of the castle. Only some do.

So at the Grand you might get one of the rooms that have the great view and you might not.

If you decide to get a garden room at the Grand, there are wonderful places all over to watch the fireworks.

Conch Key and Sago Cay have great MK views. There are also some very good once in Boca Chica, but not all of their lagoon rooms are equal.

Yes the Contemporary is closer and their MK views in my opinion are the best and least obstructed.

Sammie and all, I am trying to decide if I should keep the tower club for part of my reservation (I am staying 3nights at Polynesian first) or if I should switch to GF (I was thinking of concierage although the view is of the marina).

Now that you mentioned that the contemporary has the best unobstructed view of the castle, you got me thinking. When I look at pictures, it seems that the view has some parking lot stuff in between so during the day, it might not be such a great view or am I wrong? Also, can you see the electrical parade from the MG view? I guess you can from the GF and Polynesian but what about from the contemporary tower?
Thanks, Carolyn

I've been thinking about views also. It would be nice to stay somewhere where we can see the fireworks and the electrical water pagent. We hqve been going back and forth on a few of the resorts but i keep coming back to the CR.::MinnieMo

Thanks for all the replies. I appreciate everyone's opinion! It does sound like I can't really go wrong with the Poly - they're all front and center with the castle albeit distant. But the CR and GF it's a gamble with a possible big payoff if I would get a Tower MK room or one of the good lview rooms in GF.

We even watched the planning DVD again today but that was no help. The kids decided they would also like Caribbean Beach and the Beach Club. No more DVDs for them!!!

It's a good thing all 3 monorail resorts have availability while I waffle some more about this! :sunny:

True the view from the Contemporary if you look down instead of to the MK, is a view of the parking lot. Funny I never paid any additional to that as I was blown away with the view of the Castle, the front of MK and Space Mt. At the Contemporary you can not see the Parade from a MK view room, as it is in the back of the resort on Bay Lake when it passes the Contemporary. You can see it from a Bay Lake view room.

Personally since the only building at the Polynesian that has in my opinion Great views of the castle are Hawaii which is concierge and Tahiti, I don't pay the extra. I go with Garden and enjoy it from the Beach.

Same with the Grand Floridian.
