Please tell me why this is your choice resort when staying at WDW and why? What makes it stand out from all the others? PLEASE POST PICS TOO THANKS A BUNCH
Shades of Green... while it is a deluxe resort it is leased from Disney to the military.... it has the largest standard rooms in WDW... 2 pools, a nice hot tub, a ice cream shop, Starbucks coffee stand, an a la cart breakfast place where you can get a great muffin, bagel, or even get a lunch to go. You have wonderful golf course views, friendly staff, a pub, a buffet restuarant, an Italian resturant, bussing to all the parks that runs on a schedule.... great arcade, laundry services, a BX for shopping - which has many items you find in the parks at much less of a price..... an GREAT prices.... we have a pool side room that is $121 a night..... no other taxes or fees......
We have stayed at every WDW resort with the exception of the Boardwalk. Our favorite is AKL Savannah View - because of the great views & nothing beats watching the zebras or giraffes just before bed and waking up to see them still outside your balcony.
Grand Floridian - sorry, but I don't have pic's to post.
I just love the lobby, the bright cheery feeling in the rooms, the beautiful grounds, love the theme pool with the lagoon in the background, the food choices - especially Narcoosee and the GF Cafe for a lovely breakfast!
My favorite is the Polynesian. I like the landscaping, location on the Lagoon across from MK, the large rooms, awesome pool, tiki torches at night, and amazing cast members. The resort grounds are magical day and night. I travel often and have several places that I like to visit repeatedly, but the Poly is my favorite resort/hotel property in the whole world.
We love Yacht and Beach Club. The location and view of the Boardwalk across Crescent Lake is awesome. You can also walk to Epcot. It's an especially nice walk to and from dinner at one of the countries, and then you can see Illuminations without having to fight the crowds to the buses afterwards, just have a leisurely stroll down a beautiful walkway
My all time favorite is the GF. We stayed there for our Honeymoon, so it holds a special place in my heart. For the best MK view, I will have to go with the CR. Nothing can beat it. Since Epcot is my favorite park, I LOVE the BCV's. Gotta love being able to walk to the park. Now my favorite get-a-way from it all resort, is AKL. So beautiful and relaxing.
My favorite would have to be AKL. No questions asked.
We had the savannah view, and I had no complaints, except that the shower head spewed water in an awkward way.
The savannah view was really pretty; we could see the giraffes and cranes from our balcony. The rooms were decently-sized, and the outdoors didn't have any type of odor, as opposed to some sterotypes I have heard.
So, if you plan on staying in the savannah view if you choose this resort, I'd recommend the Sunset or Arusha Savannah. (It has zebras in the Arusha and giraffes in the Sunset.)
We absolutely LOVE the Yacht Club for like a million different reasons. Here's a few: location- you're right in the center of almost everything, bus rides are short and tons of stuff to do on the boardwalk; customer service- the best I've ever seen; Pool- totally rocks!; Rooms- beautiful, clean and big; Atmosphere- totally beautiful
We have stayed at the Contemporary and the Polynesian a few times each. We chose the Contemporary because of the convenience when the boys were little. We picked the Polynesian for the same reason and because it reminded us of Hawaii where we spent our Honeymoon. We have never stayed at the Grand Floridian because it is just not our style at all. We no longer stay at Deluxe (with two boys in college the cost is too much for us, plus we love the CSR and it has become our home away from home. Out of those we have stayed at, the Polynesian is our favorite and we gave it serious consideration for our 25th anniversary trip this year, but ended up going with the CSR. We loved the food court, the pool, the landscaping, the monorail, the buildings, watching the fireworks from the beach, etc., at the Polynesian. Here are a few pictures from our trip in 2004 when we took our oldest son and his girlfriend for his high school graduation trip:
When the kids were young it was most definetly CR. Now that it's just the two of us, we prefer our home DVC resort of BoardWalk. We're both more at home in this area of Disney, between Epcot and Disney Hollywood Studios. Also haveing a 1 bedroom villa with full kitchen and having groceries like water, snacks, drinks, breakfast items delivered, makes it easier to get the day started. Now don't get the idea we cook meals there, oooh no! Dining at Disney restaurants is as much a part of the vacation as the parks.
You can walk to 2 park, EPCOT and Disney Studios, more importantly, you can walk back to your room. No waiting for crowded transportation at park closing.
5 resorts and their ammenities all within walking distance (yacht, beach, swan, dolphin, boardwalk). You never run out of food or bar choices.
The boardwalk is a mini destination. A nice change of pace iutside of a park.
I don't think you can go wrong with any of them. I just love the Poly, because of 'Ohana, the monorail, walking distance to TTC & the tropical atomosphere.
I love the BWV, because it is nice to walk to MGM & Epcot. The atomosphere is so lively at the BW too. We love to get funnel cakes at night.
I love the BCV, because the pool is amazing!!! You can also walk to Epcot & MGM. We love Beaches and Cream too.
We are staying at the GF next week, and I am sure I will find lots to love about it too .
I've already posted this before, but, it is worth repeating here (with a pic):
Beach Club, without a shadow of a doubt. Why? 2 reasons:
(1) Art, the Greeter... he's one of the nicest guys I've EVER met, and when I once heard of someone referring to the Beach Club as "Art's House", what can I say, it REALLY fit!
& here's a picture of Art with me & my wife from our last trip:
(2) 12 years ago when my dad was recovering from colon cancer, we went on a trip down to the Beach Club. While there, he became ill from the chemotherapy he was on & general anemia (low blood count), so much so that at 2AM, we took him to the hospital (he's a doctor, I'm a paramedic, neither one of us believe in going to the hospital except when it's MOST critical!). I called down to the front desk to ask them to PLEASE have someone bring the car around (we'd used valet parking). Not only did they send someone to RUN to get the car (& write out directions for us to get to the hospital), but the only other person on duty (the front desk person herself) grabbed a wheelchair & RUSHED it up to the room (we hadn't even asked for it!) to assist us in bringing him down. He turned out ok & we went back to the hotel around 6AM (we were staying for several more days). EVERY SINGLE DAY the TERRIFIC MouseKeeping staff sent up chicken soup from Beaches & Cream to help him get better. After all the terrific things they did for him, how could I NOT love that hotel???
My favorite is the Contemporary because it was the very 1st Walt Disney World Resort Hotel I ever stayed at and because of the Magic Kingdom view you can get in the Tower. I mean how can you not like this view?
I'm partial to the GF because it's the first onsite hotel we stayed in (on my fifth trip!), but we've visited the other hotels and I feel we best *fit* at the GF. No kids left in our fam (the youngest is my sister who's 21) and there's more of an adult feel at the hotel. I like the shopping. I like the pools. I like relaxing on the hammocks when we get back from the parks. I like swinging on the Full House Jesse and Rebecca swing.
The Poly. Reasons why: Kona,Monorail, landscaping, smell in lobby, valcano pool, the music played through out the resort, the quiet pool, the beach, the boat to MK,wishes from the beach,ELP from the beach, the room sizes, the torches,TTC next door, view of castle, and the theme. I'm sure I left something out but you get the idea.
