I have never stayed an any of Disney's moderate resorts, but I might be staying in one for an upcoming trip. I was wondering which one was your favorite and why? Also, have you stayed at any of the others so you have a way of comparing them?

I'm looking for a nice pool area for the kids as one of my considering factors.

Thanks for your input!

:D

We stayed at the CBR last year and enjoyed it. We have also stayed at POR, but didn't like it as much. The main reason I like CBR is because it's tropical and beautifully landscaped. Also the rooms were remodeled recently and seemed fresh and nice.

Lots of space, great pool, very kid friendly-food court with lots of selection - I pick CBR first. For a bit of a quieter location we also like CSR. Remember PO-FQ is closed for renos.

I've stayed at 2 of the moderates, CBR & CSR. In MY mind without a doubt CSR was the better of these 2, by far. The Dig Site is a far better pool area than CBR's pool. Great slide, huge hot tub, nice snack bar/bar area with arcade and playground. This resort is newer and doesn't show it's age as much. Don't let folks fool you by telling you it will take 20 minutes to walk anywhere in this resort. We were in the Rancho section, farthest from El Centro, and it was maybe a 5 - 7 minute walk. The Pepper Market is the nicest food court I've seen, a wider variety of food than any other food court and you eat off REAL PLATES with REAL SILVERWARE. They add 10% to your tab, but that is well worth it for me just for the sake of not eating off paper plates or out of a friggin plastic basket.

Stayed at the Poly 3 times and it used to be my favorite resort....To tell ya the truth I'd probably pick CSR over the Poly if they were both the same price.

I agree with BobNC's assessment of CSR. I have nothing but values and deluxes to compare it to so far, but CSR's pool area is superior to Dolphin in my opinion.

I haven't stayed at CBR.
But between POR and CSR, CSR wins hands down. No comparison.

I LOVE CSR. It is beautiful, quiet, has good resturants and a decent menu for room service. Love the quiet pools also.:p

I have stayed at POR, CBR and POFQ.

POFQ is my fav, but since that is closed...:(

Look at some pics and see which theme you like best. I would stay at any of them again. They are a great value for the money.

DH & I have stayed at all four. Everyone will be have their own likes and dislikes. Our least favorite was CSR. It was just not our cup of tea. That being said, there are many that really like this resort. We have stayed at CBR the most since it has been around the longest. It is a sentimental favorite for our family since we visited this resort numerous times as the children were growing up. DH & I took our first trip as empty nesters two years ago. We stayed at POR and loved it! This past year we stayed at POFQ and really liked the compact size of the resort. We don't have small children anymore, so I cannot comment about the pool situation other than CBR seems to have the least spectacular pool, IMHO. We were set to stay at POFQ this Dec. but have been relocated to the WL. Hee! Hee! Anyway, whichever moderate resort that you choose, all are special in their own way!

We were at the CBR last June '02 and just loved everything about it. We're set to stay at the CSR this coming August. We changed just so we could experience a different resort. I would highly recommend the CBR. Perfect condition room!

We have stayed at CBR, CSR, and PO/R.

It goes without saying that we enjoyed each one, but our favorite by far was Coronado Springs. This resort seems to be one that you either love or hate, and we adore it! We were there with our 2 yo son as well as 11 other extended family members. The pool area was wonderful -- beautiful theming, a large adult pool area, a fun water slide in that area, and a fun little children's pool area. We loved the atmosphere of the buildings and rooms as well as the grounds and landscaping. Our favorite area was the main building -- we loved the food court, gift shop, game room, etc. Truly our favorite resort!

We've stayed at CBR twice, PO once, and CSR once. DS and I are making a trip in May, and I've booked us for CSR (so this will be #2 for CSR).

I agree with another poster about the walking distance. The guide books talk about this as a drawback to CSR. We were also at the Ranchos, and didn't feel we walked any more than we did at any other Disney resort (BC, PO, CBR, CSR). In fact, I thought that CBR was the worst!

But we've never been disappointed at any on-site resort. Each one has its own "personality."

Our favorite, by far, is POFQ. It is just such a lovely resort. The buildings, the cobblestone walkways, the iron fixtures.... we just love it!!!! It's also on the smaller side which gives it a quaint feeling.

I love the CBR for many reasons. The theme is great, the landscaping is beautiful, the rooms a bright and good sized (and have always been clean), a main pool plus a pool in each island, beaches, boat activities, bikes, playground, walkways, hammocks on the beaches to relax, Old Port Royale and Banana Cabana (pool bar)!

We prefer staying in Martinique because it's close to Old Port Royale but it was still quiet.

We have stayed at CBR, CSR, and just returned last night from 8 nights at POFQ. let me start by saying that all 3 are excellent resorts and you couldn't go wrong by staying at any of the three.

CBR:
sentimental favorite as this was our very first disney resort back in 1996. wonderful theming and beutiful buildings. we stayed in Martinique Bldg #26. closest to the main themed pool and Old Port Royale. very kid friendly resort...just loved the place....good food court....some islands could have long walks to OPR and the main pool

CSR:
stayed here in 2002 and really loved it. the best themed pool area in the moderate class(maybe all of disney)....nice, clean rooms and for the most part, very friendly and helpful staff....very convenient location....we felt that the transportation at CSR was the best we've ever had at disney...pepper market took a little time to adjust to, but, turned out to be a very nice food court and the maya grill was a very nice sit-down restaurant....just a couple of thoughts on CSR: this can be a very hot resort as there is not as much vegatation and tree coverage as at some of the other resorts. the other is the walking time to pepper market: I don't believe it would take 20 minutes to walk to the market from any point in the resort unless you tend to move very slowly. I personally walked the entire perimeter of the lake around the resort in 15-20 minutes. that said; the refillable cup thing at CSR is not as convenient as at the other moderates....room selection is a little harder because of the fact that the main pool and the food court are on opposite ends of the resort....that said; we would stay there again in a heartbeat as we really liked it.

POFQ:
The first couple days of the week, we were thinking that this was definetaly our least favorite moderate. my wife even suggested asking if they could transfer us over to CSR. But, lo and behold, during the course of the week something happened: this place really begins to grow on you! This resort has got to be the most convenient moderate of all: inside the resort you are close to everything--walking time from room 4112: parking lot: 15 seconds Bus Stops: 15-20 seconds food court: 30 seconds pool: 45 seconds to 1 minute if you goof gift shop&lobby: 45 seconds to 1 minute boat dock: 1-2 minutes.....also as related to the parks POFQ is pretty convenient to everything as well. One thing we started to like about this resort was all the shade really kept it cooler while walking around. food court had a pretty good selection and decent quality.

So, as you see, all 3 are fantastic resorts. I don't think you could go wrong with any of these. although you'll have to wait a couple of years now for POFQ.

Heading to POR on June 21st for 8 nights. This was reccomended by friends. I have never stayed in the park before, always did the house rental. How is the transportation system...hours of operation. Any help would be appreciated.:jester:

I have stayed at all four moderate resorts now. As you can see everyone has their own opinion and what you like will depend on your tastes, your everyday surroundings and what you find to be restful or adventurous. I personally find CSR to be, just a bit more interesting than CBR and POR which are both great as well. In the last place ( for me) is Port Orleans French Quarter. Each of the moderates has pros and cons which may or may not affect you. CSP only has one sink but has a coffee maker. CBR has bigger rooms than the other 3 and was recently remodeled. Both CSR and CBR surround a lake and some rooms can be quite a walk to the food court and main pool. This is a major problem for some and not a bother for others. POR and POFQ are on the river and have a boat that goes to DownTown Disney. Bus transport is similar from all of them. As you read the boards you will read posts from people who hated one resort or another and raved about their favorite.
Your best bet is to look at pictures and decide which theme inspires you the most and choose that one.

Coronado Springs is our favorite mod and we have stayed at them all. We love the pool, hot tub and theaming. Also love the Pepper Market, spa services, coffee makers in the rooms, room service (more like a deluxe than the other mods.)
