I am not a very adventuress eater, but I would like to try some new food when I am at Disney. Out of these 5 which is the one you would def. stay away from?

1. Cavier
2. Escargo
3. Scallops
4. Oysters
5. Clams

I have never tried any of them

I think the best one to ease you in would be the scallops. Their taste and texture are less exotic than, say, escargot or caviar.
They're all delicious, though. I hope you get to try some!

I love all of those!

1. Cavier - I love salty foods, so I love cavier. I'm not too fond of the way some eggs squirt in your mouth when you bite into it, but this might be unique to Japanese fish eggs.
2. Escargo - Great taste, but you may find the texture a little unusual.
3. Scallops - Very mild taste. Probably the best thing to start off with.
4. Oysters - Again, the texture might be a little much if you're not ussed to it.
5. Clams - I think this is the 2nd best thing to try on this list.

I LOVE them all.

However, scallops are definetly the easiest to deal with the first time out.

Of course, I was the four year old slurping raw oysters.

I voted wrong. I read your title on your post, "which is the most DISGUSITNG food" and voted for that and only noticed afterwards that on your poll you were asking for the best one to try.

In the case of BEST, I agree with many other poll voters - try scallops!!! I love them! They are very mild and when cooked perfectly melt in your mouth. Yum! Of your other choices I'm not a fan of any of them. I don't like their textures or taste.

all very good, to start out try fried clam or oysters rockerfeller(baked with cheese and spinich(sp?)....I wouldn't start out with anything raw, lastly the scallops are awesome at Jiko

Scallops aren't even a little bit disgusting. I'm not a clam fan, but I like them fried and in soup. The fish roe that's on sushi is good IMHO, but I don't think I've ever had real caviar. I've had escargot once and it tasted just like the garlic butter sauce it came in. ;) So I vote for oysters, which I've never had the slightest inclination to try.

I like all of them and agree that scallops would probably be the best to try first. Or maybe clams (are you sure you've never had clams--clam chowder, clam strips?)

I thought this was going to be a thread about the nastiest food and I was going to nominate "natto." Rotten, fermenting beans. :scared: (I'm a pretty adventurous eater--I've eaten fugu, jellyfish, sea cucumber, numerous bugs and snails, creatures that were still moving, etc, but natto just grosses me out.)

See . . . after viewing that scallops will be a breeze. ;)

Scallops aren't even a little bit disgusting. They're awesome! They can be prepared many different ways, and they're good no matter how they're done as long as the chef or cook knows what they're doing.

What was that a picture of?????? Uckkk!

Anyhow, scallops are good very fish like. Out of all the things you're worried about, I'd would definitely try scallops first. Clams & oysters can be really bad if not fresh & cooked properly. Caviar is very strange the first time you try it, it pops in your mouth. But if it's good stuff, well it's fabulous.

First, thanks for the replies everyone. Second...

EWWWW, you have eaten some gross stuff! Have I seen you on Fear Factor lol :rotfl2:

Looks like scallops are in the lead, what are they exactly? Some kind of fish I have heard.

before I read your post, having just seen the pic, I thought "why is there a picture of natto??" That stinky stuff...blech. My mom never fed it to us b/c she said she couldn't feed us something that smelled that bad. My aunt and uncle love it, of course, and my MIL loves it too...eew. I think it's the slime factor for me...oh, and the fact that it smells like rotten eggs/stinky feet/poop...:scared: (btw, that was my favorite Iron Chef battle...)

I also say scallops. They are a shellfish. The texture shouldn't be too foreign, if you've had imitation crab. Yummy, scallops.

Actually, escargot might be ok, too. There were members of our group who tried it for the first time on our recent Disney cruise. They compared the texture to that of a mushroom. Taste is really negligible, since they taste like garlic, wine, and butter!

Clams are good, chewy, though. Have you not had any clams, ever? Not even clam chowder?

raw oysters on the half shell...mmm. I was also that kid slurping them down...with cocktail sauce and lemon...mmm

Caviar. I have to say that I'm not a fan of the fancy black stuff. I grew up eating tobiko (flying fish roe - the tiny orange eggs that you sometimes find on california rolls) which I love because they are so crunchy. I do NOT like salmon eggs...it's like eating bait. They burst in your mouth when you bite them and are fishy and salty...no thanks! LOL

I voted for the scallops too. I am a really, really picky eater and normally shy away from anything unusual, including the majority of seafood. However, my DH had scallops the other night and I tried a bit - and it was OK. Not sure that I would order them for myself but it was definitely not gross.

You don't get a vote from me.. I like all of them.

Broaden your horizons and try them you may very well enjoy them all. My kids like them all (yes, they have tried escargot!)

I like all of them except for the escargot. LOVE the scallops!

Scallops are yummy. I think baked clams are delicious. I only ate escargot once on a cruise and it wasn't bad. I would get them again. I wouldn't eat raw oysters and don't really like caviar, because the last time I had them they were very salty.

What????? Nobody likes natto? Awwww . . . it's so good!
Natto is so good when mixed with hot rice! The smell is pretty bad, but it tastes a lot better than it smells. I'm getting hungry now . . .
