We'll be staying at AKV for the first time with our 4,5 and 6 yr. olds in tow. I know SAB is out, but is there any other "not to be missed" pool we should "hop" to as DVC members?

As new DVC members, you might want to think more in terms of resorts instead of pools. For example, if you think you might want to stay at VWL on your next trip, hop there...have lunch, hang by the pool, check out the shop, and you'll get a general feel for the resort.

If you are really looking for just pool info., my kids are close in age to yours...they love SSR as a pool and BWV for the slide. (They actually have developed their own ranking system for each resort! Are they DISers-to-be or what?) :rotfl2:

It also depends on your kids' swimming abilities...if you have a non-swimmer or one who is timid of the water, the zero-entry pools are great (like Uzima at AKV and High Rock Springs at SSR). If they are slide fanatics, then BWV has the highest/longest slide. Also, SSR has the new pool section at the Grandstand where they have the fun water squirters/splash area....so you could hop to SSR and hit two pools...

Have fun!

DVC members cannot hop to SAB or AKV. Since your kids are young, I would recommend something with a tame slide like POFQ.

I don't think you will get them out of the AKL pool to pool hop - loved that pool.

It is nice big has a slide and was mostly empty of my stay.

that say - go look at POFQ and while you are there POR.

then go to where a bunch of kids like - Polyn.

that say CSR is closer to AKV and is just about as nice - older kids at CSR - so sometimes the little ones (like yours) suffer. (my opinion). although the lifeguards are excellent - they can't watch everyone all the time. besides you have seem teens - they don't mean to be rude or cruel. they just ignore anyone that isn't them....

Personally, I don't see any reason to leave AKV to swim at another Disney pool if you are staying at AKV.

Since you can't pool hop TO AKV.....I would stay put.

Enjoy your time there....Too much of a pain to move....
Unless you make an afternoon out of it.....then go to dinner there...

In that case I would go to the Poly.....unless someone wants to parasail
then I would go to the Contemp.

POR is where we hopped to in October. We had a delicious breakfast at Boatwrights and then swam. Our DGC are 2, 3 and 4 and the slide was perfect for our 3 year old daredevil, and the waterfalls were fun for all of them.

There's a nice playground and fishing hole...we never got to fish as we had planned, the pool was the great draw!

This is probably the best advice you'll find. Pool hopping just for the sake of the pool seems a bit of a waste. They all have similar amenities. Only real difference is in the entries and slides. (I only do zero entry pools so pick resorts that have them if I plan on going to the pool.)

But the only way to make the hop worthwhile to me is to include it in a resort hop. Go live like a local for a day. Have a meal there, roam the grounds, play in the pool, etc. Decide if its a place you'd enjoy spending more hours just relaxing.

Poly is good because you can end your day sitting on the beach and watching the Electrictrical Water Parade and/or MK fireworks.

BWV gives you the option of enjoying the Boardwalk entertainments.

SSR let's you be able to ferry over to DTD for dinner, movies or shopping. Same can be said for POR and OKW.
