After listening to Kevin's review of the Wave last week I'm not sure which is more fun:
One of Pete's Rants? or,
One of Kevin's reviews of a bad restaurant?

What say you all?

I can't choose between those 2....

I don't have kids but i think this feels like having to choose between your own kids which one you love the most....:confused3:confused3

So i voted for other: the best podcast for me is when there is a rant from Pete followed by a bad restaurant review from Kevin and that all with a lot of teasing each other and jokes flying around the table!!

This was a very tough choice (not "Sophie's Choice" tough, but still tough).

I voted for Pete just because the rants are more plentiful than Kevin's bad restaurant experiences. I also tend to agree with Pete's opinion on most of his rants. So for me he is giving a voice to my sentiments.

I do love John's ziggers, however.

I'm still getting over the "Oh sweet mother of God" comment.:rotfl2:

I like the news, and the discussion it brings. and yes, i know these lead into the rants.

most of all i like what the podcast is not.... political... which is all that is ever on the radio... thank the lord the podcast is politics free... it is my solace from that.

I like both.

At his worst, Kevin is amusing...and he's usually very interesting and hellafunny.

Starting with his rant against the Contemporary, I usually agree with Pete and am silently rooting him on. Once in a while, I disagree and am like, "What is Pete thinking?" Either way, there is a personal involvement and it's fun.

The only rant I can't figure out whether I agree with Pete or not was the one against the "Don't Trust Me" song playing at PBH. I keep going back and forth on that. All the others, I'm with him or not.

I chose Kevin's reviews for two reasons.

I like that he is honest and his honestly doesn't come off as rude or hurtful. He's telling it like it is and like it or leave it, he puts it out there.

I also like that he adds servers, restaurant decor, and accessibility in his reviews. I do miss his Mom being part of the reviews though.

I simply can't choose between the two! I enjoy both of them so much, that it is a little like a 'Sophie's Choice'. Of course, not even close to as serious.
Hmm, maybe more like Yvet's comparison of saying which of your children you love more...it's just not possible.

Since I generally prefer more low key and humor to potential angry yelling, I voted for Kevin. Not that I don't generally agree with Pete during his rants. But listening to sports talk radio gives me enough yelling and ranting, I'm glad to be away from them during podcats and glad Pete doesn't rant for too long on every episode. :)

I can't choose between the two.....I love the honesty that they both have...even when I disagree with Kevin about a restaurant....I love it when Pete gets on a rant, because that tells me that he feels strongly about the subject and his heart is really into it.

They are both equal in my book...so I'm choosing "other"

Both are good.
I like Kevin's bad reviews when they are restaurants that we have no desire to go to OR do not like.
But I cringe when he does one of our favorite places.
Kinda like Phoebe on Friends when she dates the Health Inspector and he ruins all of her favorite places to eat.

But even when they are places we like I still laugh my butt off. I really wish we could watch video of their meals. I want to meet Shrek and watch John eat his sour dessert. Classic!

Thank you for eating all of these bad meals for us. We enjoy it way too much!

I voted "other" because like so many others here, I simply can't choose between the two! I love them both and I'm very grateful to Pete, Kevin and ALL the podcast team for bringing a smile to my face and making me laugh! :flower3:

the food reviews on the podcast are popular because when you listen to the podcast, everyone is just a normal person. they dont claim to be hollywood stars, and although i have never met them, they seem pretty down to earth folks.

When i listen to kevin, i think "hey... here is a guy who i would be friends with if our paths were to ever cross." it is not some snotty, high end, top chef judge who is full of themselves. its a regular guys opinion that i and many others can relate to. that is why i think they are popular. a top chef judge is never going to walk in to a five guys burger and say its good. kevin will.

he also may tell us the food sucks at a place and give an honest opinion... but i dont think he would ever look down his nose at you just because you went there anyways. basically it is food reviews without being pretentious.

i also think when people disagree with him, they get uber passionate about it. you can dismiss the opinion of some snotty top-chef judge, but when it comes from somebody like kevin, they take it more to heart than they prolly should.

love the reviews... keep them up. in fact when it comes to Disney i dont listen to any one else.

Just wanted to say that this is a really great analysis. I have met both Kevin and Pete in person (as well as all the other PodCast regulars) and I can attest that they truly are "real people" with no pretenses.

I truly love both. However, I have to give the edge to the restaurant reviews. :thumbsup2

While I love listening to one of Pete's good rants, they sometimes make me feel just a tad "uncomfortable". Sometimes they are just a little "too passionate" for my sensibilities. Even so, I would never want Pete to stop ranting and I will never stop listening to them. However, I can't give it top rating for "fun".

I do enjoy Kevin's restaurant reviews. They are very detailed. He always says they are based on his experience on that one night, your experience may vary. He describes things very passionately and and with very interesting expressions. He has a great way with words. The reviews are fun to listen to, both good and bad.

I like both, but the funnier ones are most always related to Kevin's reviews. I love Pete's rants though...they just don't have as much comedic effect. ;)

Both are great, but some of Kevin's descriptions of bad food will be immortal: ...."sad little crab cake" still cracks me up.

Can we put Walter's "Spook-taaaaaa-cular" in a category all by itself, though? I thought I was gonna die laughing from that one....
