Which is better? Yacht Club, Beach Club or Boardwalk Inn

Hello, I forced my DH to take me to WDW for our anniversary. It was our second time alone there. Our first was 22 years ago and we have stayed offsite , at the SOG and the CB with family inbetween. I booked us at the Contemporary hoping the convenience would win him over. Well, my foul plan worked. He enjoyed the trip so much that we are planning next year at the Epcot end of the park. Which resort do you feel is better for 2 adults and why? We will be going in December. We usually book the standard view but a balcony would be nice. Thanks for the advice.

We just came back from a week at BWI. If I read your post correctly and it is just 2 adults, then BWI might be the ticket unless:

*You are looking for a great pool experience (then SAB at BC would be the logical choice)
or
*You are looking for something quieter (then YC would be good)

Otherwise, BWI has lots of great restaurants on the Boardwalk, is beautifully appointed, and has great atmosphere.
Truth be told, all of the Epcot resorts (including Swan and Dolphin) are so convenient to both Epcot and MGM, you can't go wrong with any of them!
What a wonderful dilemna to have:)

All three are just fine. If a really nice pool is important to you then Yacht and Beach Clubs would be the better choice because of Storm Along Bay. We tend to prefer Beach Club since its slightly closer to Epcot and we like the more relaxed decor.

My wife and I always stay at the Yacht Club. The resort is more "adult-friendly" than the other two resorts, and of course there's Storm-Along Bay.

You can't go wrong with any of the EPCOT resorts. We absolutely loved our balcony overlooking the Boardwalk:

If a balcony is important, you might want to skip the Beach Club. You have a 50/50 chance of getting a small balcony that will hold one standing person. Full balconies are a request.

Of the other two, I might lean toward BWI. It is midway between the Studios and Epcot (you can walk or boat to either) and about the same distance as the Yacht Club to Epcot.

If you really prefer the BC, you might want to check into a studio at BCV. They are very nice for two people, as you have the queen bed and a sofa for sitting on when you're in the room. The kitchenette comes in very handy for those late night snacks and quick breakfasts. BCV studios, so far as I'm aware, all have balconies you can sit on (at least, every one I've stayed in has had one, and I haven't read any threads saying they don't).

For our honeymoon DH and I stayed at the Boardwalk. I think they were painting most of the resort so we got upgraded to this totally awsome and totally private little stand-alone house in the center of the hotel. There were about 3 or 4 other homes in a row and they were right outside of the adults only pool. The "room" was so great - you walk in and theres a couch and tv. You go further, and theres a bathroom and small kitchen (no stove). Then you go UPSTAIRS to the master suite, with a HUGE tub, HUGE vanity and HUGE bed. If you could get this, I totally would. I don't know about the price since it was an upgrade, but you don't have to wory about hearing kids running around outside your room or anything like that, and you got your own very nice, very large balcony. Hope this helps!

Even though my family and I have not stayed at any of these Resorts, we have visited all of them and I would go with the Boardwalk. In my opinion there is always something to do there and it looks like a very fun place to stay.

As for the Yacht & Beach Club, while they are very nice Resorts I think they are lacking atmosphere and there does not seem to be any excitment that goes on there.

I have stayed at all three resorts multiple times, so can give you some personal experiences. :goodvibes

The rooms at all three are the same size. But...the BWI offers a deluxe room with a sitting area that is a bit larger than the standard rooms for not a whole lot more cost.

The rooms at the BC almost all have a full size day bed. The rooms at the YC often omit the daybed for a chair and ottoman. The rooms at the BWI usually have the daybed, but it's only about 4 1/2 feet long. All rooms at the BWI and YC have a full sized balcony. Some rooms at the BC only have a standing balcony. I prefer the decor of the BC rooms, the YC and BWI rooms are a bit "busy" with an almost dizzying floral wall paper.

The BC is the closet to walk to Epcot, the BW is the closest to walk to MGM.

The BC generally has the most kids.

The BC lobby usually bustles the most.

The BC has a great little cocktail lounge, it's tucked between the Cape May and the former Ariel's. We also like the Bellevue room at the BWI, although it can become overrun with kids. We're not big on the Crew's Cup at the YC, it's very busy with people waiting for tables at the YSH, and the lobby bar is often overrun with convention people.

In fact the YC lobby itself can become overrun with very noisy convention people.

When it's not busy, SAB at the YC/BC is wonderful. When it's busy it's crazy. The main pool at the BW can get busy, but not as. The quiet pool at the BWI is usually empty, same with the YC> The quiet pool at the BC isn't always so quiet.

All three have great restaurant options. YSH can be hit or miss, but is always at least good. YCG is a great, never crowded spot for a casual meal. Cape May Cafe has a character meal and an OK evening buffet. I haven't eaten at the Flying Fish at the BWI, but have yet to hear a negative review. There's a grab and go place in the store in the BC lobby. The Boardwalk Bakery is yummy, although lines can be outrageous, same for Beaches and Cream. One thing we've been doing is going to the cafeteria style place on teh ground floor of the Dolphin (sorry, can't recall the name) for breakfast, the prices are reasonable, and they serve Starbucks coffee with free refills during that meal. Blue Zoo is by far one of our favorite places to eat in the greater Orlando area--that's at the Dolphin. We haven't tried the new Italian place at teh Swan yet. Shula's at the Dolphin is a little too testosterone filled for us, but the meal was good. There's also ESPN and Big River for pub grub at the BW. So dining options abound. One thing to consider, if the weather is bad, you have to physically go outside when staying at the BW to get to any restaurant, at teh BC/YC it's all under cover, which is a nice feature when it's pouring out.

In my eperience, the BC has the most families, the BWI has the least number of families, the YC is inbetween.

All three have plenty of atmosphere. The YC lobby reminds me of the Waters Edge in CT near Groton. The BW lobby reminds me of what the great resorts of the NJ reosrt towns were back in the 1920's particularly in Ocean Grove and Asbury Park. The BC lobby is bright and "beachy" and reminds me of the Wequassett up on Cape Cod.

Bottom line you can't go wrong with any of them.

ETA: As far as views go, at these resorts, "water view" can include a view of the pool. If you book at the BWI, I'm pretty sure you can guarantee a Boardwalk View, which is nice if you like to watch the comings and goings. In my opinion, it's really not worth paying for an upgraded view at those resorts though. JMHO.

More ETA: There is plenty of excitement at all three of these resorts. First off all SAB is by far the most themed pool at WDW--CSR is argueably second. Next the Boardwalk area has various entertainment in the evening. Carnival style games, jugglers, musicians and more. You can rent surrey bikes and ride them around--those hills can get tough after a few adult beverages. You can rent watermice, take a pontoon boat fireworks cruise, or even a spin in Breathless.

Yacht Club and Beach Club are the same resort. They have slight decor differences (beacH vs boat theme) and the yacht club has more balconies. Beyond that, people are splitting hairs trying to call these seperate resorts.

They share the same pool, resturaunts grounds, same dock. So just decide if you want boat or beach theme. beyond that..their is no difference. PERIOD.

But as others have said, you cant go wrong either way.

I vote for Boardwalk Inn.

We just returned from a blissful 9-day stay this month. The resort is in exceptional condition and the castmembers understand Disney Magic - it's alive and well there.

Our last stay was at Beach Club and we found it beginning to look a bit shabby. Nothing "in your face" until you noticed many little problems. The GM of Guest Services (for both Yacht Club and Beach Club) must be on the fast track in Anaheim....he's a numbers guy and missed the Disney Magic references alltogether.

Run to Boardwalk - it's fresh and clean, close to EPCOT and MGM and the staff will make you feel like you are their favorite family returning for a visit.

Have a ball!

We've stayed at all 3 resorts and BWI gets my vote. Last time, we had a full balcony facing Epcot (Morocco). The one night we stayed in we had a perfect view of Illuminations. Proximity to Boardwalk Bakery is a big plus. The only drawback is the distance to the parking lot

I can only speak to BWI and BWV, as we have stayed at both. We LOVE the Boardwalk. We went for our 15th Anniversary no kids trip and had a great time. My kids also enjoyed the Boardwalk, although they missed their Poly...We really enjoyed the quiet pool at the Boardwalk and the pool bar at Luna Park. The concierge lounge is amazing if you go that route. We did stay in a deluxe room (sleeps 6) and there was a lot more space, the six of us stayed comfortably.

For the most part, I agree with everything Anne (ducklite) said.

For non-villa stays, I prefer BC to BWI. For villa stays, I prefer BWV to BCV.

In regards to dining, I generally find that the options are close enough together at all three resorts so as not to be the deal breaker. None has stellar counter service, but all have decent table service locations.

I do suggest that it is impossible to judge a resort simply by walking through the lobby - until one has actually stayed and experienced the product and service for an extended period it is difficult to offer up an accurate assessment of the resorts.

I stayed at Boardwalk Inn in 2006 and while it is a family friendly resort, it has more of an adult vibe than many of the other deluxe resorts. Courtyard (standard) views are nice and many standard rooms offer views of Spaceship Earth and the Eiffel Tower at the French pavillion.

Here's another BWI vote. Ok, I have never stayed at BC or YC, but having walked around them, I think I still prefer BWI. The feel at BWI just felt really neat to us (2 adults). It was busy enough that it felt exciting, but quiet enough that it was still relaxing. We also really liked the hotel bar area- comfy couches and very friendly bar tenders. We had booked a standard garden view and we LOVED it. We were on the top floor, and if you looked straight out our room we could see the Eiffel Tower from the France pavillion, and fireworks at night! Let us know what you decide!

Anne, as always, great information for everyone. I don't want to steal this thread, but I want you to know that one of our two adopted greyhounds passed away from cancer two weeks ago. 6 years in our home and we loved every minute of being with him.

I'm so sorry. I can't imagine what you are feeling. :sad1:
