We have over $250 on our disney rewards card for our trip, but I've heard that you can't use it many places. Would it be wiser to change those rewards points over to disney dollars? Are those accepted more places?

hi

the advantage to disney dollars is that they are taken at the stand alone carts in the park such as the popcorn and coffee carts where the rewards card isn't taken - generally if credit cards are taken the rewards is taken and if credit cards aren't taken (like the carts) then the rewards card isn't taken - i think i'd opt for a little of both since the rewards card is less bulky but the dollars are accepted a few more places

hope this help

That is still True for DIsneyland popcorn cart, but most popcorn carts at DCA have now accepting credit cards. More options for the guest.

From a post I read on here it said that the rewards cards are only accepted in two stores in DTD. I thought maybe the dollars would give us more options...

The rewards card can be used all over DL and DCA - and in DTD only at DIsney STore's - tthta may be where you got the only two stores at DTD - but you add to that the majority of stores/places to eat, etc all over DL and DCA - except some of the stand alone food carts.

Here's my 2cents. I would do the Disney Dollars because of the carts and also if by any chance I have any left over I believe you can take them to City Hall and exchange them for real money.

We just today traded in $100 of our disney rewards dollars for disney dollars at the Disney store. I also picked up a few goodies for my three year old for the plane ride.

I like LLLRH's advice, get the dollars and then convert them into cash and used them for anything you like, inside or outside the park.

I also will typically use them in one shot to cover my hotel's cost.

Has anyone done this before? This sounds like a really good option--almost too good to be true. It sounds like it could be a real money loss for Disney to do this (converting Disney Rewards Points--->Disney Dollars--->actual cash) , so that's why I'm wondering if they actually do this.

Oooh Subscribing to this thread to find out more about DD and cash, I also would like to know if anyone knows.

One great thing about the rewards card: If you lose it, you can call and cancel it and get a new one issued. We had to do this at WDW and it was a "livesaver". If you lose Disney Dollars/get robed - it is JUST like losing cash. We just carry a little bit of cash for the food carts. . . for us Disney dollars are souveniers ;0)
