Ok, 8 years ago my husband and I stayed at Dixie Landing aka Riverside. Now we have 3 kids. We just went to WDW a few weeks ago and stayed at the Pop but our next trip is being planned for Dec 2009 (I wish sooner but boy is Disney expensive) but when we stayed at the Pop our youngest was 14 mos. He will be 3 when we go next so we only have a few hotel options when it comes to a family of 5. I know you can stay at All-Star Music but I want to avoid the buses there. So we have Coronado or Riverside to choose from.
Does anyone have any advice on which one to choose over the other. We really liked Riverside but I've also heard that family of 5 rooms have quite a walk there.

Thanks!!:yay:

Both are popular, both are huge, and both are nice. Depends on what theme and amenities you like best about the resorts. Check out my CSR website below for pics and info.

We have stayed at both, here's what we think....

Con for CSR is Pepper Market (food and service were not good for the price IMO).

Con for Riverside is bus service, slow check in, bus service....yes I know I said bus service twice and for this reason we would return to...

CSR!!

I echo magicaldisney exactly. Because the bus service is good at CSR and can take a long time at POR, I'd go for CSR, but try not to eat at the hotel. The food court there is too pricey for what you get, as far as I'm concerned.

I don't know why:thumbsup2 the previous posters didn't mention that you CAN'T put 5 people in 1 room at CSR!!!!! If that's what you're looking to do you only have a few options: POR, ASMU family suites, or Fort Wilderness cabins. Other resorts do have suites but they are VERY expensive. I believe POR is the cheapest option. My family of 5 has stayed there and we loved it! It is a beautiful resort and although we had a bit of a walk we didn't mind it at all!

Okay...not sure why my "thumbs up" guy showed up where he did? I just wanted to point out that we didn't really have any issues with the bus service at POR either!

When I go to the WDW site and put in a family of 5 CSR comes up available. I wonder why???

CSR does have suites, maybe that's why it's showing availibility for a family of 5. :confused3

We have stayed at POR twice and CSR once. We really liked the food court at CSR, but our heart belongs to POR. We use DVC, but still include POR because we love it so much. We'll be staying there for a couple of days in April before heading over to SSR.

I noticed that too. Since your youngest will be over 3 you have limited options. The cheapest route is POR AB section. There is a trundle bed that will accommodate 5.

We stayed at Port Orleans last April and loved it. We never had any trouble with the buses, they were great. We loved POR, it is beautiful there. I would highly recommend it.

I've never stayed at CSR so can't give a comparison, but we just booked 10 days over Easter At POR RIverside for our family of five. It is our families favorite resort. This will be our 5th stay there. My youngest is 12, but luckily still short enough for the trundle!

:) We also have never stayed at CSR, but have been to POR twice and enjoyed it very much. We have stayed at both moderate and deluxe and found the bus no problem at POR during our stays (once during value season and once peak season-at Easter). We stayed in AB section bldg. # 27 and found we did not have too long a walk to bus, food, or pool. My family really enjoyed the pool area here-nice pool for a moderate. :thumbsup2

We had 5 in our room in the Alligator Bayou section, building 14 & it was just a few steps away from the main building/dining hall. You could even cut through the parking lot & come out right at the bus stop (if you wanted to avoid going through the crowds in the main building). Building 15 & 18 were very close as well. Hope this helps :)
