Which is better - Blue Bayou or Cafe Orleans?

How do you know what your dog's food taste like? Just curious.

i was just guessing beucase dog food smells soo bad, i'm sure it taste bad, and the gumbo was nasty and looked like gumbo and the bread bowl was rubbery...and to think i tried it after it i was told that it was the best.

but the boudin bakery bread bowls with soup are very delicous and yummy tasty, not nasty or rubbery ( i did already say this i know):)

try the lobster nachos at the cove bar OP. lots of people like those!

so OP, i think you are better off at what ever place you want to eat at.:thumbsup2

Well the gumbo at both places is the same and it's the BEST gumbo I've ever had so if my dog's food tastes like BB/CO gumbo I'm seriously missing out.
I've eaten at both many times, BB is our fave hands down. The atmosphere is just the best, you can't beat it. We do BB for lunch tho, we love going to the bayou at night and then walking out into daylight. :)
CO is also very good but the feeling isn't nearly the same. The food is good, the service is OK but the atmosphere isn't the same at all.
The gumbo is delish, the Monte Cristo is the best heart attack on a plate I've ever had. lol Really they are both very good, but they are very different feeling wise. Does that make sense?

Funball I've never had the gumbo in a bread bowl at CO, are you sure you got it there? I know there is gumbo available at the soup place across from CO but I don't remember seeing it in a bread bowl on the CO menu? I've always had it in a regular bowl.

Any opinions?

Depends on what you want....good food, decent price (ok, decent by Disney standards)....then Cafe Orleans.

But if you're looking for atmosphere and something very special, then it's worth the extra $$ to go to Blue Bayou. Sitting in the semi-dark watching and hearing the Pirates ride just screams Disneyland.

Time may have a place in your decision as well.....Cafe Orleans will get you in and out in about half the time as Blue Bayou. And of course getting reservations at BB takes a bit of time and effort as well.

The food comes from the same kitchen so how can it be so much different. Does the price of the food influence the taste? BB hands down for us. Never had a bad meal or service and always waterside for the experience. We have beed there over 15 times so far and going again on Aug 20th for dinner and surf and turf.

well we are going in Sept and will go for the 1st time to BB. Dog food or not I am looking forward to it. :lovestruc.

YES YOU ARE RIGHT!! it was at the veranda place.. sorry ya'll!! sorry for the confusion! but i still think the bread bowls from the soup place are not that great :scared1:

Based on atmosphere, I'd vote for Blue Bayou. That is unless you're stuck by the bathrooms/plate discarding area. We've been to BB a handful of times and ended up there twice. Sitting in the middle of the pack isn't bad, but a table by the water's edge can't be beat.

Jack I didn't say the food was different at all. I know it's from the same kitchen, both places have good food. I'm sorry, maybe I wasn't clear in what I said. But I've never had a bad meal at either place, bad service sure, bad food never. :)

Funball I wondered if that was the case. :) And now I wonder if the gumbo is the same at the veranda place as it is at the BB or CO? Hmmm.........

My fault PW, trying to do this from the iPhone. I meant to leave it as an open post and tagged it to you. my bad.

BB for me is more about the atmosphere than anything else. I like the food and the service is normally very good but the real draw is where it is.

As a matter of fact, I've never eaten at Cafe Orleans nor do I really have any plans on doing it. I'm sure it's good, but it just isn't the BB.

got it Jack, I was all confused. :) :thumbsup2

We :lovestruc BB ~ DD & I are dining at both retaraunts this weekend! CO will be a 1st for us.

At CO have the Pomme Frites and the Mickey Begniets. (I know I spelled that wrong but it's close lol) They are so good! I really liked the ratatouille there too, I'm not usually a fan of stuff like that but it was good!!

Pretty sure it's just cup or bowl at CO. Veranda has "steak gumbo" in a bread bowl but trust me, it ain't the same gumbo.

Now that I think about it, I wonder if you could request a bread bowl of the good gumbo while dining at CO. They could walk right across the "street" and get an empty bread bowl. Couldn't hurt to ask. Or maybe you can buy an empty bread bowl and bring it with you. :)

You are correct, Funball did say she was mistaken and that the gumbo she was thinking of was from the veranda right next to Pieces of Eight. :) I wonder if you could buy an empty bread bowl.......OMG that's a GREAT idea! I like to have the CO gumbo and their salad, with the bread bowl it would so much better. :)

Cafe Orleans hands down! Great food, awesome service and decent prices.

Our last two times at BB were horrible and we have not been back since!

You cannot beat the atmosphere in BB but the prices are pretty steep!

We have eaten at CO and had the WORST service. The meal took almost an hour because the waitress kept forgetting us... or at least not showing up for 10-15 minute intervals. We asked for something and she never brought it.... I guess that sort of taints my review of the place even though the food was great.
