our store has 4 qt tubs for $4.88.

The half gallon is a much better deal. If you got two of these, you would have one gallon - 1.48 x 2 = 2.96, vs the 4 quarts (which is one gallon) at 4.88. That is quite a difference - are they both the same brand?
