We have done the basic plan 3 times. Last trip we did the deluxe. I have no complaints about the deluxe, it was just way too much food for us, so we are going back to the basic plan for the next trip.

Thanks for the input. We've done the basic plan the last three trips, but are leaning toward the QS for our next trip. Still debating a little due to character meals, but that's the leaning (today). We hit our 90 day next week, so I plan on deciding before then.

Were we on the QSDP a few weeks ago and it was the perfect solution for us. We were REALLY happy with it and will use it again the next time.

We did what would be called the basic in 2007 with included apps/tips. LOVED it! We opted for the DxDDP this go round. We're doing it while we can afford to do it before DS is charged as an adult! We are planning several character breakfasts/lunch and signature dining dinners. Mostly planning two sit downs a day. We love our snacks so I guess that we will actually use most of them to fill the gaps between breakfast and dinner.:goodvibes This is something of a splurge trip for us though.

We're doing the DxDP because this trip is all about the food. :lmao:

We've done the DDP for the past four years in a row & my family loves it!! We don't worry about cost on anything, we don't feel we need to share, we can choose anything, a real treat!! And with a drink & entree & sometimes a couple bites of dessert, we're good to go.

We would never do the other two plans because 1) we enjoy doing a TS meal a day to relax & re-group & 2) on the DxDDP, it's WAYYYYYY to much food!!!! We do Disney for about 12 days & there is NO way we would eat that much food for twelve days!! Yuck! Not to mention, it would seem you would be spending more time in restaurants than in the parks!

Does anyone know the cost for the basic and the quick dining plan? looking to book for the summer and probably going with the basic again but wanted to know the difference in price. thanks in advance! :)

The new Quick Service Dining Plan prices: Adults $29.99 per person per night; children 3-9 $8.99 per person per night.

The Basic Dining Plan prices: Adults $39.99 per person per night; children 3-9 $10.99 per person per night.

Just don't forget to factor in that on the DDP you will be paying the tips for the TS meal OOP. For *our* family...the REAL difference in cost from the QSDP and the DDP would have been a minimum of $40-45 a day with the tips factored in. A TS meal for a family of 4 can QUICKLY push beyond the $100 mark.....if your on the DDP your more likely to be ordering the more expensive items...tack on the dessert for 4 people and a $150 bill is certainly not out of the realm.

We often do a combo so I couldn't vote. Sometimes we arrive one night early and will buy the delux and spread the credits over 2 days. Sometimes we buy the ddp for our family who arrives mid trip from ours in a separate room. Sometimes we don't buy any. I guess if we went once a year we would have to decid, but bouncing 5-6 trips a year, we are flexible. We also have the DDE card too. We do like to arrive one night early before our DVC stay. We stay in a value room and buy the QS and get our mug and use it at our next location.

We :lovestruc the basic dining plan. Our kids will be 6 & 7 and we all enjoy 1 TS per day. We thought about doing the deluxe but decided against it because 1. to make the most of the deluxe plan we felt we would have to invest too much time for dining and 2. When I factored into the expense of upgrading to the deluxe + the OOP tips for signature meals, it didn't fit my budget.
Last year we did a split stay and for 2 days we didn't have the dining plan and it was painful. Even though I had more than enough $$ budgeted for our food, I didn't like *thinking* about the crazy prices of Disney food. :scared:

We have done basic and deluxe. We love deluxe. We like to eat and signature restaurants, and do some of the character meals and shows that cost 2 TS. We still grab some CS lunches, and even if we schedule a TS lunch we still end up ordering a sandwich or salad, they just seem to be a better quality and selection than the standard CS meal.

I agree with the above posters that it is nice to have things paid for ahead of time. When we did the basic dining plan, we ordered cereal, milk, bagels, cream cheese and juice from www.gardengrocer.com and ate breakfast in the room before heading out.

I have to add that we aren't picky eaters.

DlxDDP...I love knowing that we can eat 3 meals a day and it is all paid for in advance!!!:worship: :cool1:

We get the regular dining plan every trip and LOVE it. Just the perfect amount of food for us;)
