which hotel?

Hello. New to this part of the board (DLRP side is my usual stomping ground!)

Anyway. Me and a friend are planning to go to Disney World for the first time next year (after much explaning to my friend that Disney World and Disney Resort were 2 different places ). Was just wondering which would be the best hotel to stay at?

It needs to be a disney one, be close to the parks and be rather up market (but not too swanky as we are going on to new york straight after we leave the magic of Disney)

Close to the parks & nice?

May I suggest one of the Magic Kingdom resorts: Grand Floridian, Polynesian, Contemporary, or Wilderness Lodge. If Epcot is more to your taste, try one of the boardwalk area resorts: Beach Club, Yacht Club, Dolphin, Swan, or Boardwalk.

Neverlandpixie is right on with allearsnet. They have lots and lots of pictures of each resort, including the rooms. Plus they have detailed descriptions of each resort.

Some of our favorite resorts are:

Polynesian - Very romantic, good themeing, on the monorail.

Wilderness Lodge - Great themeing, good location, less expensive of the deluxe resorts

Dolphin - Not a Disney owned hotel. However it is on Disney property located next to the EPCOT resorts. This hotel has great dining and drinking options, one of the best pools, and is a short boat ride to EPCOT, MGM, Boardwalk.
