I voted Hojo however i have never been to the other places.
The Hojo as other shave noted has free internet, double sinks( nice size bathrooms) and very spacious rooms. The beds were high( like the disneyland hotel) but very comfy. Has a small fridge and bathrooms on each floor from what i saw( plus). Small video game room and a nice gift shop. Very close to disneyland and good food very nearby! the Entertainement rate is the best!
I also like when the rooms are bright and airy and the Hojo happened to be.

Now, I need to figure out transportation.:surfweb: Its always something! But, just gotta love the dis giving us all this great info to get us going! I'll cross my fingers for ent rate coming up, but I won't hold my breath.

Feel free to continue voting and stating your reasons although my choice is made...it might help others choose as well. Thanks everyone!:grouphug:

Not on the list, and I didn't quite make it to the 6th page, so not sure if it's been mentioned yet. For the past 3 years we've stayed at the Alpine Inn, in fact we were just there about a week and a 1/2 ago. Its backyard is literally the main Disneyland parking lot, it's closest to the south(?) entrance, definitely within walking distance. Then all you need to do is hop on a parking lot tram and you're off to Disneyland. The place is small, location is quiet, and the rooms are clean and comfortable, perfect for sleeping & showering. Within walking distance to the main Harbor strip, and there's a 7-11 at the corner. Google Map it if you're curious.

I didn't pay, but I believe our rate for double queens was in the $70 range (with coupon). We later stayed in North Hollywood for Universal in a movie style roach motel for the same $70 rate :faint:. It was a last minute thing, and we had not research any places prior to setting out .

Ok, we've now got a change of plans. Originally, we were just doing the cruise flying out a day early to be safe. Trip dates Sat 8/2-Sun8/10. Booked flight out SWA 8/2, but had to wait for return dates to be listed. Long story short, I waited too long to book return and price skyrocketed. Around Mother's Day, there was a sale on SWA for tue-thurs flights at a price we could afford. Meant we'd save around $700 in airfare, but we knew that would be eaten up by park/hotel costs in staying 2 extra days (but more value for your $!). So, we went ahead and booked a tues 8/12 return. Not an ideal flight...2 stops (no changing planes though) and would put us in our home airport around 11:30pm. Plus with such a late return, we knew neither of us would be able to work the next day because we had a 3 1/2 hour drive afterwards to our home as well! All in all that would have meant taking a total of 8 days off work...not ideal, but you gotta do what you gotta do pricewise.

Well, today we got a Ding from SWA. It saved us $44 in airfare. Its on monday instead of tuesday, but still puts us in our home airport late. At least its nonstop though. My dh preferred this because ns, now only 7 days off work, and saved an extra hotel night/extra day ticket price/meals, etc... I've figured we're going to save about $400 coming home a day early. Not my first choice, but my dh feels real guilty taking so much time off work; especially since he's the one who usually has to take off when the kids get sick or don't have school & he even works a shorter day to pick them up after school.

So, there you have it. We get off our cruise Sunday morning 8/10, head over to DL/DCA, spend one night, and head to the airport for our return flight on Mon 8/11 at 7:00 pm. We originally booked Hojo, but with only 1 night stay, should we stay closer to the park? I know I'm going to have to reread this whole thread to figure out if one or the other across the street hotels is preferable, but thought I would seek out your opinion since we have now shortened our trip and literally will only have 2 days in the park & 1 night hotel. Thanks!:thumbsup2

We just stayed at HJ, and I was injured by awful blisters on the balls of my feet and on the sides of both big and little toes (did it even before we got to the parks!). Walking to HJ was no big deal.

Once you're out of the tram/shuttle area, it's maybe 5 minutes difference between the first hotel you get to and HJ. We've now stayed there a total of 6 nights in this last year, and I also stayed at Carousel this year, and there was seriously almost no difference.

Sorry you had to shorten your stay!!!!

Ok, sorry to be so wishy washy. I was soooooo regretting the decision to switch it up to Monday return last night that I convinced dh there would be no point in doing Disneyland if we only had a 1/2 day after cruise on sunday and 1/2 day before our flight on Monday (especially after reading a mexican riviera trip rpt from this week how busy it was sun/mon at the parks). So, since today is 5 ding day specials from SWA, crossed my fingers for a repeat of yesterday's ding! :surfweb: It came! Yeah!:thumbsup2 So, I changed us back to a Tues return...only its better. Our original flight left at 4:00pm with 2 stops along the way. This one leaves at 7pm (more park time) and is ns.

So, I think we'll just stay with Hojo. And, I guess if the parks really get way tooo busy, hopefully we'll get lots of use at Castaway Cove! Thanks for bearing with me. I'M NOT CHANGING PLANS AGAIN! :badpc:
