we have ressies at 2 hotels for our trip 3-3-01 thru 3-8-01. I have to decide this week which to keep and which to cancel. 1st is hawthorn suites orlando by sea world. we got a rate of 64.50/nite with free breakfast buffet each day. The other is doubletree suites at downtown disney. this rate is 134.10/nite and includes early entry into the parks each day. We have never stayed on site, and I would really like to, but I just can't decide if EE and being really close is worth the extra $$. We have 2 ad and 4 kids going. kids are ages 16, 13, 11, and 7. the rooms are very similar, so that isn't much of a factor. Any advice on this would be VERY welcome. also if anyone has any firsthand knowledge of either of these hotels, I would appreciate it. I have changed ressies about 6 times so far and I really need to finalize my plans. Also, how should the crowds be at this time of year? this may factor in to my hotel decision!! sorry this is so long and THANKS!!!

With that many people I would stay early entry is definitely worth it, but it depends on you and your family. Do you plan on going back mid day or not? For us, we consider early entry a major perk, but we don't have to stay on site the whole time due to cost.

It's up to you. I've never stayed at either place so I can't offer any good advice, sorry!

Jenn

I just made a change to our ressies the other day, I got two connected rooms at one of the all star resorts on property.

One room has king bed the other has 2 doubles.

This would be perfect for a family of six, and on site besides. Our rate is $69.30 per nite / per room.

Just another option!

I forgot to add one of the best reasons. You can let your older kids park hop and not worry about transportation. I have a 14 year old that loves the All Star. We stayed this past January and he was able to go to the park he picked with his friend and I could meet them later. They never have to leave Disney property.

Try that search for the discount.

how did you get the 69.30$/nite rate at all stars?this sounds good , but I can't get anything lower than 104.00/nite for all stars. was there a code or something? e-mail me or post the way you got this rate, so I can try for it. thanks
my e-mail is colemant_@hotmail.com thanks!!! :)

I would like to know how you got this rate too. I'm looking into another trip next year and I am dying to stay on site. I could afford to for that $$.

I too, need a room for one night before moving to the Swan. How did you get $69.30???? Was that AP rate????

While we're all asking, where did you get the rate for the Hawthorn Suites?

The $64.50 rate is an Internet special available only at their website. I believe it was only valid through 3/8, but check to make sure.

Just my opinion, but it seems as though spending about an extra $600 (additional room rate and breakfast) is an awful lot of money considering that the parks shouldn't be particularly busy at the time you're visiting.

I have decided to stay off site at the hawthorn suites. As much as I would love to have EE, it hardly seems worth 500-600 dollars to have it. I also feel better knowing that several people on these boards think that the week we are going probably won't be too busy. thanks for all the advice!! I still would like to know how to get the low rate for the all stars, maybe for a future visit w/o kids!!!

It's been several years since I've stayed there, but I really enjoyed it. The breakfast was good and reading some other posts, I think they've expanded it a bit. Also, the way the pool and playground is set up in a courtyard with the hotel surrounding it was nice. You got a very good rate! :)
