Was it a DTD resort?

For those that have stayed there, did you need a car?

Do you think they will have a 20.04 rate this year? :teeth:

Hi......The motel was the Marriot ar downtown Disney.

As for a car.....no, you will not need a car if you are only interested in the Walt Disney attractions.

Will they have a special this year? There is allot of rumurs already going around........they did this 2 or 3 years in a row. If they were to do it again...trust me it was well worth it. I've always received great rooms and the managers specials were out of this world (open bar 5-6pm every day (beer/wine)).

Hope this helps......

This hotel has changed from Marriott to Holiday Inn per their website. Hopefully they will still have the same great rates.

It is true that they are now a Holiday Inn. It would be awesome if they offered the $20.04 rate but I don't see it happening.

We were able to take advantage of the $20.02 in Sept 02. The busses ran every 20 minutes or so.

They offered this already this past September through November, I believe. The rooms were first come, first serve and required payment in full. It was still the Marriott, and I was not aware of the name change until now.

Just wondering (sorry if I didn't read the posts right because it's late and I'm not thinking completely straight) when the offer was put out to the public. I'm thinking of trying to get this rate when it's offered and want to know when to be prepared. And is it cancellable or transferrable?? Thanks! ~ Mary

If it's offered again, it usually comes out in early summer for stays from Aug-Dec. Sun-Thurs gets the cheap rate. You have to pay for the entire $20 rate up front and it is non refundable. Not sure about tranferability.

ummm Rick???
Your countdown thingy is empty.... fill that puppy in man, plan another trip! ;)

Hi Tinky.......

You caught me........I was just there in Sept 2003 for a Solo trip. Had a great time...just could not be any better. I'm currently trying to figure out when the next trip should be. I've done so many solo trips now (and have enjoyed each of them) I'd like to share the magic with someone on my next trip. It's just so funny how so many people just cannot understand how a person can keep going back.

Little do they know that this also started with a little mouse...lol

Thanks for reminding me........

Have fun.....

Just messin with ya, cuz its fun ;)

I know exactly what you mean... Every time I mention going back people groan and say "Again?" I just laugh and say "yep!"

Glad you have a great trip!

It was very sad to see the Holiday Inn sign outside the hotel last week. We had been lucky enough to celebrate our anniversary without the kids for 2 years at the $20.xx rate. I doubt that the Holiday Inn folks will duplicate it, but it was wonderful while available.

I just got that same reaction tinky when I mentioned it on new years that it is time to start planning for WDW. Everyone looked at me like I was crazy. Only you guys understand. I just smile at everyone else who thinks I'm crazy.:earsboy: ::MickeyMo

I think I've found my newest favorite thread. I thought I was alone in living and breathing for my next Disney trip! I haven't been to too many other vacation destinations, but when I do go somewhere else, I think how much I miss being in Disney. I also think I've found my newest favorite hotel: The Swan. For not much more than the cost of a moderate, you can stay there if you are a gov't employee, or teacher, or nurse. I have also saved even more by joining Starwood Preferred Guest and racked up points by just one stay, and even more by sitting in on a time share presentation given by them. (spg.com) Now I have obtained the Starwood Preferred Amex Card and with the points I am accumulating I think I have enough for 3 or 5 nights at their cash and points rate of $60 per night, plus points. I am thinking of going again in May, it was very empty the week before Memorial Day. We were upgraded to a room with a balcony, and had the view of the fireworks at Epcot! It is the perfect location for a walk or boat ride to Epcot or MGM and the Boardwalk. I have thought about trying the new Pop Century, but I'm afraid I've become too spoiled with two stays at the Swan!

I was sorry to hear about the change in this hotel too. I stayed there last year and was planning to go back again this year. The pice was a great value and the amenities were just right for the kind of traveling I do.

I am thinking, (hopefully?), the $20.xx rate may continue. It always sold out, it was pre-paid and non-refundable, at a slower time of year = full hotel and guarenteed income.

The special rate was not sponsored by Marriott, (none of the other nearby Marriott family hotels offered it). The hotel is a franchise, so the rate was sponsored by the local management which is still there just under a different name.

I am just catching up on this Courtyard news now!

hopetoseedisney(Mary) - last year we reserved our room with the $20.03 rate in early April and I know that I had been hearing about the rate here on the DIS for at least a couple of weeks. So IF they are going to give this rate again this year, I would start watching in February or March. As you know, it will not be advertised on the site or available through Nationwide Reservations.

I am hoping that even though they are now a franchisee of Holiday Inn, that they will continue the great rates and service that we experienced on our trip in August. I would think that if they have the same management, that there is a good chance that things will be the same.

Only time will tell, I suppose.

I am sure that all of our DIS friends will keep us updated.

:)

Just curious...if the low rate is not found anywhere how do you find out about it? (Could be a blonde moment but I didn't see the answer to this) ALso how far is the walk to DTD? If this rate comes out again it will make it possible to suprise Dh with a night or two at CR:)

Just bumping to see if they offered a good rate like this under their new management or not. Did a search, but didn't find anything. Thanks.

Haven't heard a peep about any $20.04 rate. :( Got an e-mail from the Holiday Inn last week, but it was advertising a $59 rate. I think that it was only good through June though.

I am wondering how their occupancy numbers will be...

Rumor is that they are planning a remodel this fall. That might impact the availablity of this rate.
