I have stayed at the Sofitel before but its too expensive for this trip!

I am looking for recommendations please peeps! as close to the airport as poss (on site would be best!)

can anyone help?

You can book the Hilton (which is onsite) using Tesco Clubcard vouchers, if you have any of those. :thumbsup2

I think we have paid about £100 for our family room at the Gatwick HIlton which includes breakfast. You can often get a good deal there and it is very conveniently attached to the South Terminal - obviously only convenient if you are flying from that terminal :rotfl:

We always stay at Acorn Lodge - its a B&B. Its about 3 miles off-site; they have their own car that they take you to your terminal and then collect you with again. We have used them 3 or 4 times and find them efficient and good value.

I saw Courtyard by Marriott advertised and according to the website its only an 8 min walk to south terminal! Rooms are £54 per night which seems a great deal for a short walk!

anyone stayed there?

We stayed at Manor House B&B last December. Like Acorn Lodge, they take and pick you up from the Airport which is 5 mins away and only charge £2 per night for your parking. They don't serve evening meals but as we did early check-in at Gatwick we just went and found a pub and ate there before going to the B&B.

We have always stayed at the Sofitel and paid the full rate, last year I was browsing their site and noticed that if you booked last minute the prices were half what I had paid. So if you like the Sofitel you could try booking last minute.

We are trying the Premier Inn Gatwick Central this year. They have an offer for 29 pound per night so price can't be beat.
We have not stayed yet but have read good reviews about them. They are not really onsite but it's only a short walk from the North terminal. Or they also offer a shuttle bus (paid). I think the Premier Inns are just no-frills hotels but for that price I won't expect much luxury. Just need a bed to sleep anyway.

So if you want to go for budget hotels... have a look at their website. Just make sure you book the right one coz there are several Premier Inn's in the Gatwick area.

There is a new hotel at the airport which opened last year. Just by the Hilton and we are staying there this September - £109 including parking. You can either walk to the south terminal or get a bus. I cant remember what it is called. It might be a Marriott?

That must be the Courtyard by Marriott !

We usually stay some where posh but its the travel lodge for us this year haha £29 for a family room...We just need a bed for the night this time!

Same for us as we need 2 rooms :) We will probably eat at Frankie and Benny's after twilight check-in and then book into the hotel and sleep :)

We have stayed at the Gatwick Manor before. It was really very nice, it's got a pub restaurant next door and you can leave your car there for 15 days (although we left it for 16 and weren't charged any extra).

We would happily stay there again.

I'm staying there next Thursday but am paying £62.95 plus tax - so £73.97 (minus 4% Quidco cashback ;)). Could be more because I've only just booked it and/or it's a weekday night.

I think most of the airport hotels: eg Sofitel, Hilton and also Courtyard, quote their prices without tax initially. The Premier Inn Gatwick Central includes tax in its prices.

I've stayed at this hotel many times, the last occasion being in January when, for the first time, they were also charging for overnight car parking (£5 I think it was). Because of the snow, they didn't have space anyway and so we had to make other arrangements after arrival. Inconvenient but unusual circumstances. Normally I think this is a good place to stay, especially if you book far out and get a good deal on the price.
