Which FP+ queues make you miss part of the experience?

Seems like there’s been a lot of interactive elements added to various queues since I last visited in 2013, along with many rides that are new to me. So before I can plan my fastpasses I want to try and work out which queues have theming I want to see. So, which attractions have queues where you’d miss out on stuff if you took the fastpass queue?

Generally, the interactive queues are at rides that tend to have long lines. At Peter Pan's Flight, for example, there's lots to see in the Darling children's nursery, including some neat visual effects, but I don't think I'd forgo the fastpass and wait in line an hour to see them. MK rides I can think of with interesting queue spaces are Mine Train, Winnie the Pooh, Haunted Mansion, Peter Pan, Little Mermaid.

At DAK, if you use a FP+, you'll miss the fascinating queue at FoP . . . but . . . do you really want to wait in line for 2 or 3 or more hours just so you can see the queue? No! And definitely get a FP+ for FoP. It's WDW's best ride--to me and to lots of other posters on the DIS. If you do want to experience the FoP queue, get in the standby line as close to park closing as possible. The standby wait times are usually highly inflated then.

The PPF standby queue is really great. If the standby wait time isn't bad, it's worth doing. But I wouldn't wait, say, an hour for it. I might wait 1/2 hour if I'd never seen it before. Ditto HM standby queue The 7DMT standby queue is not worth waiting for. I mean, it's cute, but not 1/2 hour of my time cute. Maybe 15 minutes, max.

EE has an amazing standby queue. In fact, I've never ridden EE but I have walked thru the queue. It's wonderful.

The standby queue at TT is also pretty amazing. But wait an hour to see it? Not I.

In case someone in your party needs to go to FEA, be warned: the standby queue is nothing at all except a thousand switchbacks until you get to the very very end, where there's something cute. This ride is strictly FP+ or rope drop.

I'll post again if I can think of another interesting standby area.

The regular queues at Expedition Everest and Kali River Rapids have some fascinating stuff. When crowds are low I've let people pass me while I explored. Of course crowds are never low now. :(

B-Ride: So true! I forgot about Kali. That's an awesome standby queue.

FOP has an amazing queue....have done both fast pass and standby for this ride, and would definitely do standby again just to experience the queue.

Dumbo has a portion of the line that branches off onto an indoor playground. You get a beeper much like a reservation at a restaurant and then when you are called you go back in line. I could see some families with younger kids making that choice because moms and dads get to sit on benches and kids get their wiggles out

I fastpassed Enchanted Tales with Belle and was sorely disappointed - the FP entrance skipped the entire cottage, which is the part I had wanted to see! You just get taken in a side door straight to the room with the magical door (if that makes sense to anyone who's seen the attraction).

The crabs in the queue of The Little Mermaid are beyond adorable. I can’t not stop and interact with them. It drives my DD crazy but those goofy things make me giggle like a school girl.

The dumbo queue with the playground is great. Last week the ride went down for lightening when we just about to go on, so we got to wait inside and let DD play while we waited. She loved it and it was a great chance to let her run around free. Also air conditioning and places for adults to sit!

Thank you so much for all the replies! I'm definitely not planning on standing in any looooong queues *just* for the theming but it's good to hear other folks thoughts on what's worth seeing.

I think I'll try to do both FP+ and standby before closing for FoP - thanks for the tip!

Uh oh, my wee boy is obsessed with Frozen! What kind of cute thing is at the end of the standby line? We'll definitely be fastpassing it, but may need to do it more than once.

I think my son may prefer the Dumbo waiting area to the ride! Do you have to go ride immediately when your beeper goes off?

I am not sure...when we went they just made an announcement that the ride was open and we could go..it had been 30 minutes so we were ready. You have to go through part of the line first before getting your pager. And yes, our daughter liked the playground just as much if not more so than the actual ride

Nope, you can hand the beeper back and ask for another to extend your time !

We have never ridden FOP without a FP, done the ride probably 10 times over the past 2 years.. each time my DS complains he's never seen the standby stuff and he heard its really cool. Just take a glanch at the wait times for him to change his mind...

We lucked out and were there during the Superbowl, as everyone was leaving the park to go back to the resorts to watch the game, we were heading into it strictly to try to get on FOP. Stood in line for about 60 minutes, which was about 120 minutes shorter than it had been trending all week.
