My preference is usually a ground floor or lower level floor. I'm not a big fan of heights and we have 4 boys, three will be 8 while there and are a bit on the hyper side. Will we be disappointed with the view or room if we request the 1st or 2nd floor?

Yes, I would. I think lower level floors are standard view. What category did you book?

All that was available was Lake View.

Go here to check out the room locations in the three views http://www.disboards.com/threads/bl...nks-last-update-of-post-1-10-21-2015.2257082/ As noted the ground floor is only standard view. If your preference is low floor, request it. Personal view is that the higher the floor the better for views and it is a huge difference. We had a lake view on 15th floor last time we were there and view was spectacular.

We just did a week with a 2 br standard view and chose the ground floor. It was great, very quiet on the south side. Our kids loved being able to play outside with lots of space to run around. We usually request as high as possible but this made us rethink that approach.

We just got back from a lake view on the 10th floor. Personally, I found that to be a good height. Not too high to be nosebleed, not too low that you heard activity from the sidewalk. The fifth floor skyway bridge to the fourth floor of the contemporary was open (no dvc key card required to open it) the whole time we were there. I spent a lot of time on that bridge and you could definitely hear people talking down at ground level from there.
