Which flight/car scenario would you do?

Ugh. Don't know which flight/car scenario to do. We have done both previously and both have their ups and downs. When you factor in airfare, luggage, rental car they come out to be the same price in the end pretty much. This is for travel for 7 people.

a) Fly Southwest out of Louisville (Hour and a half away from us). 2 hour nonstop flight. Bags fly free. Lands in MCO, so we can use Magical Express.

b) Fly Allegiant out of Owensboro. (tiny airport, this is the one and only flight it has, it is about 40 minutes from us) 2 hour nonstop flight. Have to pay for bags and carryons. Lands in Stanford, so we have to rent a minivan.

Again, the after everything, the costs pretty much are equal. What would you do?

Did you read any reviews on Allegiant? They had really cheap flights to Phoenix. I read reviews from here and internet....cancel flights, late, etc. Sounds really bad IMHO. I am going to try SW this time.....

When you say the "costs are equal" are you including the added costs for Allegiant (bag fees, minivan rental) or just the airfare is roughly equal?

Either way, I think I'd do option A. For main reason, if something happens with your Allegiant flight, you may be stuck awhile waiting for another one.

Option A. Our airport is about the same distance away, and we always try to fly Southwest. Once at WDW, we personally have no use for a vehicle.

I would take SWA.

The main reason is Alligent is a smaller airline and only has a few planes that is why they only fly one or two days out of each airport.

If something happens be it a mechanical issue or weather issue, you could spend days trying to get on a flight. Where as with SWA you will have a bunch of options to get to your destination.

It will be easier and quicker to fly in to MCO and then to get over to WDW. MCO is only 35 minutes from WDW. Sanford is over an hour away.

SWA has free bags, ability to change flights without a change fee, free drinks and snacks and some flight have free direct TV if you have a computer to watch it on.
