Which extinct WDW restaurant do you miss the most?

I miss Tusker House when it first opened. They had the best stew in bread bowl and it was a lot of food too. The other place I miss is the Odyssey. That was such a nice place even though it was just CS.

I miss Breakfast at Tony's! Fab coffee and they brought a huge cinnamon roll to the table while you waited for the rest of your food. A nice relaxing way to get the day at MK started.

Bev

I agree, I miss breakfast at Tony's:( I wish they would bring it back....

Wow - this thread is great! I miss them all!

Flagler's - the best Italian food at WDW

Chef Mickey's at DTD - great meatloaf

Tangeroa Terace - we had the terriaki T-bone dinner on our Honeymoon and had to go back and eat there again 2 days later because it was so delcious!

The Soundstage in MGM (great food adn character interaction) and Minnie's Menehune at the Polynesian (bigegst varierty and lots of fresh fruit) had the very BEST breakfast buffets!

The Top of the World breakfast at the Contemporary - they used to make Mickey shaped pancakes there while you waited.

The Empress Room at the Empress Lilly. My late husband and I had our first dinner as a married couple there. The bar just outside was lovely as well. Great bartender named Tony.

Empress Lily when it was a character breakfast.

Tangaroa Terrace--for belgian waffles, with all the toppings!

King Stefan's banquet Hall in the castle. Best jumbo shrimp ever.

Top of the World--for Sunday brunch!

Aunt Polly's for Peanut Butter sandwishes, and lemonade

Flagler's at the Grand Floridian --does anybody remember the singing waiters?

Anyone remember what the Crystal Palace was before it was a sitdown....I mean I know it was cafeteria style but that is all I remember....any photos?

(I did not read through this entire thread so I apologize if this has been covered).

I remember CP like that too! No photos, and I really can't recall any specifics, but I do remember going through a cafeteria line with a tray on the railing in front of the food.

I also remember when LeCellier was a cafeteria.:earsboy:

Does anyone remember "The Cat Walk"? It was upstairs over the Brown Derby. It was such a great place for a cool drink or adult beverage. Always so cold and they had props hanging all over & boxes...I loved it!
Can you still use that for a private party????

Tangaroa Terrace at the Poly. We ate b'fast there all the time as a kid when we stayed at Poly each year, and I am SO sad it is gone. It had pretty views and I have so many fun memories of that place. I even took a pic of the sign when we stayed at the Poly a few years ago. :sad2:

If anyone's got pictures of the Tangaroa Terrace, Flagler's, and other extinct restaurants, please post them!

Here is some video footage of the Empress Lily found on you tube.

I, too, would love to see photos. We didn't stay onsite until I was an adult, but we had many visits as a child. Maybe a photo or two would spur some memories.

Coral Isle Cafe
Papeete Bay Verandah
Tangaroa Terrace
The old Akershus-- no characters

Bon Famille at POFQ. We used to drive over there for breakfast twice during our trips;the beignets, the french toast. The wait staff was wonderful. We were there for my son's 10th birthday breakfast. They made it so special. We're going in Oct for his 21st birthday and when I asked him where he'd like to eat that day, he said breakfast at Bon Famille. The purple, green and gold mardi gras beads they'd hand out and the masks which the kids would color. What a great place!

Yes, please....someone post the pics from the older restaurants! They sound so amazingly cool! I think my first WDW TS was in 1998!? Sad since we started going to the parks in '82!?

My hubby's first visit ever (I know...:worried: :( :confused3 :furious: PARENTS) wasn't until 1997. (During the Castle cake! :rotfl2:) Since then he's been making up for lost time. He wants to stay in every resort and eat in every restaurant eventually.

If only we could see some of these Gems you all keep mentioning! Please ya'll...if you have any old pics share them with us! XOXO

I was looking at this GREAT website http://waltdatedworld.bravepages.com/
and realized there are a TON of Extinct Disney restaurants! Many that weren't mentioned here. Some sound really good and I can't believe they'd eliminate the food choices so much! A cajun rest like several at Dland would be nice! :goodvibes

Dreadfully miss the old Akerhaus buffet with hot and cold all you can eat very authentic food. It was one of our favorites and we never missed going several times each stay. We've only been once since the princesses took over, what a change! So sad, wish they would keep just one meal princess-free and bring back the traditional hot and cold buffet!

I miss the original Akershus buffet too.

1. Old Akershus menu. That place was great (I love herring and cod).
2. Bonfamilies. Excellent breakfasts with beniets on the side.
3. Old cafeteria-style Crystal Palace. At one time they'd let everyone in before rope drop and it was a great place to get a cinnamon roll and coffee.
4. Old Tusker House. Air-conditioned counter service dining near the attractions. Very much missed.
