Studios only!

I know timing can greatly affect the answer (i.e. I understand Epcot resorts during F&W will be almost impossible to get at 7 months) but instead of a specific time period breakdown, I was just looking for an overall general guideline. We are a family of 3 with some flexibility in travel dates and would like to stick with studios only. For the sake of variety, I'm sure we'll want to try them all. But if I'm going to buy a resale, I'd like to buy at the one that would be most difficult to get a studio at 7 months out.

The hardest studio for me has been any time at BCV. The only place a waitlist hasn't come thru is there, also.

BLT SV rooms go fast and so do the AKV concierge rooms. In addition, the BW view and SV rooms at BWV tend to go fast as well.

However, many are getting the LV rooms at BLT and the preferred garden/pool view at BWV so while certain views go fast at these resorts, I think you should be able to get in to the resort at the 7 month mark.

I have been able to get studios at VWL, BWV, BCV, AKV and SSR at less than 7 months (August travel) . We ended up switching out the AKV and SSR rooms so never stayed there, but they were available for booking at around the 5 month mark.

Value villas at AKV also go quickly.

We have never had trouble getting studios at BCV, OKW, or AKV (Jambo & Kidani) at the 7th month mark.

* In fact, for every trip listed in my signature, we NEVER had to waitlist (SSR is our home resort). We have always been lucky to get whatever we want when we call to book.

I have rarely had a problem getting into my first or second choice resort (with one exception) booking just 3 or 4 months in advance, but I almost always travel off peak.

The exception was trying to book a reservation in September at any of the DVC resorts for a studio during first 2 weeks of December... The low number of points and all the Christmas decorations just made those stays prime for the taking.

I rarely book any vacation more than a few months in advance unless I am booking it for a friend or family member.

Toughest is definitely the Concierge studio at AKV. Since there are only 5 possible, and less if people book a 2 bedroom.
