I read the Bay Lake Tower studio does not have accessible shower with bars and a seat does not have either - no grab bars and no seat
I want to stay there because of the monorail - we do MK and EPCOT.
I, DW, use a wheel chair, I have weak legs, can not stand up without 2 canes

So which Studios have accessible shower with bars and a seat - Poly ? or GF ?
WL - I do not think their boats can do wheelchairs and the bus to EPCOT would be a pain in the butt with a wheelchair

I really want to stay at the Bay Lake Towers - do the one bedroom have better accessible shower with bars and a seat ?

Please advise

I think you need to specifically look at checking to book an accessible room. So on the search feature you need to select “Show me Accessible Rooms only” then from there it will show all the available Wheelchair Accessible rooms which will have grab bars, etc.

WL will accept a wheel chair on the boat. You just might need to wait for the bigger boat to come which is at most 1 boat away.

I do see BLT says it has Wheelchair Accesible rooms. See the screenshot below.

Are you renting or an owner? If renting you need to be specific they book this room type else you are likely to find (at any resort) it not to be wheelchair friendly. This is also a booking category not a request. So don’t rely on a request.

The Wheelchair Accessible room described above doesn't have a shower with a seat, just the grab bars. I'm pretty sure that BCV studios are available as described above (tub with handrails) and there are also wheelchair accessible studios with the shower and bench. I haven't been in the shower HA studios, so I don't know what grab-bars they have. I've been in OKW HA villas (but not studios) and they had showers with seats. Also, one time I was in a non-handicapped accessible studio at Kidani, and I called down for a shower chair, and I was pleasantly surprised that they had them. I was later told that virtually all resorts have shower chairs available.

They say that but I think it isn't just a tub. I've never seen a Wheelchair Accessible room not have a roll-in shower (they don't always have a tub and shower like BLT is showing). In particular I wouldn't stay with a wheelchair in a non Wheelchair Accessible room at BLT, it is pretty narrow maneuvering around would be difficult.

See the Youtube here that shows the Wheelchair Accessible room (which I was assigned once because I guess no one booked it) did look like this too. I also want to say I got one once at VGF and it was a roll in shower too, instead of the normal shower.

I've stayed many times in a Handicapped Accessible room with a tub. I do it mostly because I need the grab bars, because I have virtually no balance, but I don't need a wheelchair. Like you, I don't know how anyone in a wheelchair could manage in a tub very well. The first time I entered a HA room that had a tub instead of a shower, I was surprised.

There are many HA rooms for different needs so I suppose if it wasn’t explicitly a Wheelchair Accessible room in the DVC system I could see that being the case. Though I did just watch a Tower Studio at Riviera that wasn’t a roll in shower but a tub, weird.

But for the OP it is a bigger studio and has a shower at BLT based on that review it would seem. I’m sure MS could clear it up too.

Edit: Seems like that might have been the “Florida Accessible” room not “Wheelchair” which is a different booking. The standard studios there have roll in tubs for sure.

Look for roll in shower in the description. You can rent a shower seat from an outside vender. You can also purchase a shower seat/bench from Amazon. I bring mine in a check bag and put it together once in the room. I fly Delta and they do not charge a checked bag fee for H/C equipment. Just only have that seat in the suitcase if you want it checked free. The seats cost about $30. I just leave it and put a note on it for house keeping to donate it if they’d like. You may not even need to put it in a suitcase if you keep it in the box it came in but I like the added protection of the suitcase. I always have people with me that then use the suitcase for taking souvenirs home

Forgot to add BLT has a studio with roll in shower with bench and bars. You just need to specify this when booking.

That's a good idea! The shower chair I bought cost closer to $45, but I'll bet I could find one for $30 or so. Also, it's like having extra room for the trip home.
