Which DVC resort is the best?

Best for what or who?

What are your needs? Little kids, no kids, teenage kids, love the parks, hate the parks, there's lots of factors to consider.

I have a 15 year old and we love the parks! Which resort has the best food? Pool? Best bus transportation?

The answer is the one you are staying at instead of being stuck home with an impending snowstorm breathing down your neck.;)

Or you take a quote from Animal House that all of the DVC Resorts are "outstanding in their own way".

There is no "Best". Everyone has their favorites, but I can't pick a "Best".

With a 15 year old, I would vote for BWV or the BCV close to world showcase for the restaurants and walk to both epcot and mgm....Favs for my teenager.

Yeah, but that teenager isn't going to be a teenager forever. Don't make the mistake of thinking short term.

Tigger113: Buy the resort that YOU like the best. To be blunt, by the time that DVC pays for itself (likely about 6-8 years) your 15-year old may be settling down with a family of his own. Make sure that DVC is a purchase you will still be able to enjoy beyond that, and pick a resort that appeals to your tastes.

most teen attractions after park hours are a short walk or boat ride to down town disney (i.e. pleasure island, shopping, movie theater, restaurants). Also 12 more years. We own also at bcv to have the best of both worlds. It is great to take the ferry to the back of epcot! You can't lose. :flower:

This is a totally subjective question. Most of us bought at our Home Resorts because we thought it was best for us. There is no one best DVC resort for everyone. It depends on what you and your family find appealing, both in decor ("Theming" as it as known at WDW) and what the resort is closest to. ie VWL is closest to MK, BCV & BWV are closest to Epcot and MGM, SSR is closet to DTD, and they all have different theming.

What DVC resort is best? The one you like best. And since everyone is different the only way for you to know for sure is to research all of them. Best of luck!
:cheer2:  :sunny: :cool1: :goodvibes   :smooth: :flower:

I think you should stay at each DVC and then make up your mind which one you think is best.

Do a lot of research on all the pros and cons of each resort. These boards are great for that. Also think about what Disney area you want to be closest to most often, and what amenities/restaurants/etc each resort has. I'm coming to the conclusion you can't go wrong, but there are definately differences to consider. Probably not be practicle to stay at all of them before buying (kind of defeats the purpose of buying DVC! :teeth: ), but it's easy to walk around all of them to get a sense of style and location. :cool1:

We were SURE we wanted BCV, then stayed at BWV and loved it there. Were sure we didn't want SSR, but are now hearing great things about that resort.

At the end of hours and hours of deliberation and research, flipping a coin works well... :rotfl:

Ah, the age old question. As everyone has said there is no one best. It is what is best for you. I would at least tour each DVC area even in you can't stay at each one. Then think of your family and what would work best for you.

Our best is Boardwalk and I'm happy that is our home. We've tried most of the others. Really liked some, didn't care for others. So it truly is personal taste.

Wow! Everyone's been so decent about this question. In the past, some people have gotten pretty "fanatical" about which resort is best. Just wanted to warn you that people within the same family can have widely differing opinions about what's best. DH's best is OKW, my best is BCV, and DS's best is BWV. But really, if you can, stay at different DVC's before you buy.

A very loaded question! ;) The "best" for my brood is OKW because of many factors which we loved when we purchased and many more which we have come to embrace since then! To answer your question, your best bet might be BWV or BCV because access to the parks is easy – walking or by boat. The pool area at BCV is a mini-water park in itself and is very cool. Lots of places to eat at both.

Everyone has there differant tastes. Some like it quite. WLV,OKW. BCV and BWV there is a lot more going on. From OKW or WLV you need transportation no matter where U want to go. BCV,BWV. Short walk to EPCOT. 8Min walk to MGM or by boat. If you are able to let your 15 yoa go it on his own for a time then BWV and BCV are waht U want. U don't have to worry about him getting lost on a bus. He walks into Epcot, out the front gate to a monarail to MK. Or he walks out back to MGM. It's really what U like. Some people love OKW. Others would never stay there. Same goes for all DVC resorts.

In our own family we have different favorites.

Our son-in-law (25 years old) LOVES BWV or BCV because it's close to ESPN (he's quite a sports fan). He also likes the easy access to Epcot and MGM. The BCV pool is a favorite also (a mini water park). My oldest daughter also votes for the Epcot resorts as her favorite. She likes the whole area.

Our youngest daughter (20 years old) prefers VWL, although the Epcot resorts are a close 2nd.

My husband and I prefer VWL (quiet and soothing for tired people who need a rest). Magic Kingdom is also our favorite park and VWL is just a boat ride away from the Magic Kingdom.

We went to Olivia's Restaurant in January at OKW and took our kids and they said they would like to stay at OKW sometime. The sun was shining and OKW looks beautiful with all that lush landscaping, palm trees, and great Florida feeling. It also has basketball courts and a new themed slide at the pool. Very lovely.

If I were you, I'd make a point to visit them all and find out which one you like best. And if you are like us, each person in your family may have a personal favorite.
