Hi Everyone!

DH & I are seriously considering buying into DVC and would like some help. I know everyone has different opinions but please give me an idea of which location you think is best. I love the Boardwalk area but am unsure if BWV are what we are looking for. We have a 1 year old and will hopefully have another baby on the way sometime soon, so if any places are more kid friendly that will be a big plus. Since 1998 we have gone every other year to WDW and stayed at POFQ & POR. We love POFQ and like POR. If we bought into DVC, we think we would try to go every year, especially if I can get DH to fly!

Thanks in advance :)

OKW is alot like PO.

BWV is great too.

both of these plans quit in 2042, the new resort SSR is until 2054.

the only DVC resort that DVC is currently selling is SSR. they are having a nice sale right now on that property.

so if you want BWV, BCV, VWL or OKW - I think you need to go to a resalers.

that say because you are going to be going to MK alot - little children - then I would consider VWL.

however if you like BW - then hey go for it!!!

I think Beca was looking to sell her ownership in BCV. Try giving her a shout.

I have 2 little ones (dd 4 and dd 2.5) and another one on the way and we bought in May at the BWV.

My kids love it there. They love the BW itself and the entertainment to be found there and the bikes and well everything. Its Disney right!

And although my kids are young we enjoy going other places other than just MK everyday and the kids will get older. Also as the adults we thought the BWV gave us some nightlife even though the kids were with us too. And if one of us wants to go to Jellyrolls they can! We go to each park probably twice. Epcot more often since its so close to the BWV.

But we haven't stayed in any other DVC locations as a family. We did stay at the WL pre-kids but not the villa's.

Lesson Number One: DVC is a LONG TERM COMMITMENT. You may well be a GREAT Grandparent before your DVC ownership ends.

IMO, selecting a Home resort is something that you and your significant other need to do based solely upon your collective tastes. Factoring your kids into the discussion will only cloud your judgement. (And yes, I am a parent myself--I make that statement purely for practical reasons.) You are the ones who will have to live with the decision long after your children have lost interest in Disney and started families of their own.

If you look at the roster of resorts and definitively know that you want to spend the majority of your time at a single resort, that is where you should buy. If you don't feel capable of making that decision, know your tastes will change over time, or just don't strongly favor one resort over the others, your Home resort is pretty much irrelevant. There will be plenty of opportunities to try all of the resorts.

If you love the boardwalk area, then buy at BWV's. I have a 3 year old and a 6 week old. Two parks accessable by boat or walking distance, which allows you to keep your kids asleep in their stroller. Enough said. Cheaper points for standards is also nice.

One other option would be BCV's. Same info on the two parks, and while you need to walk over to the boardwalk, you do get SAB. No discount on points though.

I would have to agree with tjkraz. Now hubby and I just bought and we bought into SSR. We have little ones too, 9 and 4 so being to the parks at this time will be a plus. HOWEVER, when we decided where to buy SSR won out for these reasons:

1 - Longer contract. We are fairly young so why not get 12 more years out of our investment.
2 - Great incentive. 83.30 a point is nothing to squawk at.
3 - DTD. Now we figured that when the kids get older there will be times where they don't want to go, or when they are out of the house and it is just hubby and me. We definatly would like to enjoy the nightclubs at DTD and the restaurants and shopping and how convienent it is to be so close. Granted this was long term thinking but this investment is for our family but mostly for hubby and I since we paid for it and will use it after the kids have grown.

don't know how many points you are contemplating buying - so you might want to consider buying smaller contracts at two resorts - one with the great incentive that dvc is offering at ssr - and another through a resale at a different resort - that could provide flexibility over time.

dh and i just bought 180 pts @ ssr which will be fine for the immediate future - and will give us time to evaluate our future vacation plans after retirement in six years or so - it lets us think about adding on or a resale at some future date while permitting us two dvc vacations a year for now.
