Which DVC has the best Studios?

I agree with Simba's mom. Love OKW, but for studios, we prefer one of the other resorts with a sofa. Also, we find we can put the crib for DS near the door, and it's separated from us enough to give him -- and us -- some privacy.

I love being able to sit on the couch, put my feet up on the coffee table (soon, I hear they'll even get coffee tables in BWV studios), coffee cup in hand, watching "zip-a-dee-doo-dah tip for the day", even in Spanish!
I hate to be the bearer of sad news but they got rid of the zip-a-dee-doo-dah tip for today clip in the resort rooms!!!!!
It is now being played in the bus ques at MK!!!
Now there is some other clip with a girl running frantically from park to park showing the top 10 attractions.
I for one, was very sad to see the tip for today gone!
I loved those origami castles and Mickey ears! LOL!!!

Oh no. I used to like watching those too! Well you know what they say, change is good. ;) ;)

There are good points being raised here. I've always liked OKW studios the best because they are significantly roomier; I still hold that opinion personally.

However, it is a good point that it is nice to have the couch (even though couch bed is not the most comfortable thing I've slept on.) We recently stayed in a BW Studio and I do agree that it's nice to have that couch to sit on when you are in the room during the day or when watching tv.

Let's face it, all of DVC is just awesome. How smart were we all to buy into this!

DW and I will be in a Studio at SSR during Member Homecoming - I'll give you a report on it when we get back!

Our family of five (dd's 5,5 and 2 at the time) did an OKW studio and I just about went nuts. It was not relaxing at all. We thought the kids were still little enough but with all their stuff everywhere I could not get any peace. We have only stayed in 2 BR's since! The extra room, the washer dryer, the ability to get away a little bit makes a huge difference to us.
Oh, I totally agree with you Joepoe ! We usually stay in a 2 bedroom at OKW. I just mentioned OKW as our "studio" of choice since that was the topic of the thread. We stayed in an OKW studio the night before our last cruise in '02. It was fine for one night and we find them roomier for us, though I know others would disagree. We checked in at 5 pm so we knew we wouldn't be in it for long. This November we have a 2 bedroom at OKW reserved before our cruise, but this time for 4 nights.

As a family of 3, we prefer the OKW studios because everyone gets a real bed and they are pretty spacious. In fact, for sleeping arrangements the OKW studios are even better than a 1BR in our situation since in a 1BR someone ends up on the couch.

That said, the studio we had at HH was unbelievable. It was so much larger than the other studios we have had or seen, and having the kitchenette as you entered rather than in a hallway to the bathroom was also very convenient and effective.

With the group make up of the OP I would go with the 2 beds at OKW. While the sofabed in the other resorts are, IMHO, OK for a single younger child and the extra floorspace when the bed is put away is a useful benefit, for two kids ( or one older/larger or heavier) I think have a "proper bed" is the better option. For just a couple going I would definately prefer to opt for one of the other resorts.

Thank you ALL so much for your opinions! I am convinced that OKW would be the best option (sleep wise) for us.

But, I think we're going to try to buy one of those plug in air mattresses and go with BWV, BCV or WLV. I really think that will be more comfortable than the sofa bed. We know these areas and feel comfortable there. Plus, the bathroom layout will be helpful with 2 women. I was also thinking that the sofa will make the room "seem" a bit larger. I love my mom and she loves us, but every little bit of space will help keep us all happier.

Thanks again!

They will be ! My kids much prefer an air mattress to any of the sofa beds the DVC rooms have to offer. Have a nice trip Cathy---hope you get the resort you want.

Sorry, but it's hard for me to separate the room type and size from the location of the resort. A few extra square footage of floor space in a location that requires a long bus ride and has no access to alternate transportation means to parks or local attractions just doesn't compensate in my humble opinion. BCV & BWV have nice water and walking access to Epcot and MGM, WLV has water access to MK. OKW has water access to DTD. Those location amenities factor into the decision for us if we are only talking about onsite studios.

Good luck with your choice.

I can't imagine trying to squeeze an air mattress into any of the studios. DS, DD and I stayed several days in a studio at OKW and were fine. Dad joined us later and we went to a two bedroom at BCV. The kids shared the studio portion and it really seemed tiny in comparison to our studio at OKW. Even my daughter mentioned it, and I visually couldn't imagine sharing that studio with both of them as we did comfortably at OKW.

If there were only two people who would share the same bed, then I think it would be okay. More than that, though, and it gets tight.

And this is what's so awesome about DVC---different strokes for different folks ! It's great that (for many different reasons) OKW can make alot of us happy, while many others prefer BWV or VWL (for various other reasons).......variety is the spice of life ! Can u imagine if everyone preferred BWV over the rest of the resorts or OKW over the rest ? What madness that would be ;)
I feel it's nice that OKW does offer a different studio type for preferences like many of us. Sleeping arrangements (and extra space) are definitely a big issue for our family----we don't mind the bus rides at all & prefer the ability to park right outside our door.
While I know others don't see this as a perk they'd be interested in---still others do :D

HEAVEN FORBID!!!! LOL!! :) Then I would have to book all my trips at exactly the 11 month mark in order to get into my beloved BWV! With my travel schedule due to businees obligations and the number of trips I take to WDW per year, it would be a nightmare!
