Which Disney waterpark do you prefer?

We will be leaving for the Fort in a few weeks (hooray for us!) and we will have time during this trip to go to a Disney water park. My kids are 8 and 11. Which water park do you recommend (and why)?

I am interested in this, even though we won't be at FW until October. We are also assuming that since we will be there during what we understand to be "out of season", one of the water parks might be closed?

both are cool, we prefer Blizzard beach, mainly for the kids areas and the family raft ride, it is a pain to walk up that mountain though

I like both water parks a lot, but I think Typhoon Lagoon offers a bit more for me.

Blizzard Beach highlights: The Summit Plummet slide from the very top to the very bottom (high thrill). Nice, long family raft ride (much longer than at Typhoon Lagoon). A very good system of general water slides.

Typhoon Lagoon highlights: The surf pool wave pool (one huge wave each minute or so instead of constant bobbing on small waves). The snorkeling area where you can swim with small sharks and rays. The Crush n Gusher water roller coaster. Also, I thought that TL offered more shady spots than BB for resting, but that may have just been the areas I found based on different arrival times.

I hope to visit both on our next visit in August. Both parks are great, and you really can't go wrong with either one. :thumbsup2

The only problem with BB and TL are that you will never be satisfied by another water park. It used to be that BB was the best one... then TL added the shark tank and crush gusher and now they are pretty much even. I can't describe how much fun we have had at each park and this will be our 5th year of going to both. The big slide at BB is the longest in the USA if I am correct.... you are totally freefalling for a few seconds and then wedgee mania.... One of the best experiences of my life was snorkling the shark tank with my daughter, it was late and there was no line and we went like 5 times in a row. She was 11 then, this year she will be 16, I hope we can do it again. The lazy river at each one is soooo cooool, especially in the caves.

OK here is my favorite thing, I think it is TL... there is a rope bridge way up above the lazy river.... you want to talk about feeling like your tarzan... or jane or whatever... its pretty cool! Its a pretty tough climb though... but way worth it! OK nuff ramblin... can't wait til June!!!

Hope you have a happy adventure!

TYPHOON LAGOON HANDS DOWN!! We have a family of 4 and it was great . I do want to say WET-N -WILD off of International Drive is really AWESOME too!

I have to say Typhoon Lagoon simply because of the wave pool, nothing is better than a wave pool IMO.

They both are great but I like TL best for the atmosphere. The kid area at BB is pretty awesome. I have not been to the kid area at TL.

I have issues with that wave pool.. first visit there I was holding my niece probably 2 or 3 at the time in the shallow end - barely in the water, needless to say that wave bowled me over, trying to keep niece above water and skinned both knees :scared1:

Another vote for Typhoon Lagoon. Just the sound of that wave machine makes all of us laugh when we hear everyone in the wave pool screaming!!

:)

I know it's in a totally different league (Sea World), but I have such happy memories of Discovery Cove. DD--age 14 at the time--said it was the best day of her life!

We ditched the rest of the family and went just the two of us, since it's really expensive, and I wanted it to be extra special day for her without her little brother and sister there. The snorkeling there I'll never forget! And I loved having the bird aviary along the lazy river. No lines in June, lots of chairs, perfect weather...what a great day that was! :thumbsup2

I wouldn't bother taking little kids to Discovery Cove, but by the age of yours, they'd appreciate it, unless they're looking for a waterslide experience.

I liked TL, too, and haven't done BB yet. But if you're looking for something really special and different (and it's okay that it's not waterslides!), Discovery Cove was great!

I haven't been to either park. They aren't open in December, are they ?? :confused3

Ditto! We spend hours and hours in that wave (surf) pool.....Whooooooosh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Screams!!!!!!!!!!!! :scared1:

Thanks for all of the info so far. It looks like TL is getting the most votes. (Maybe I should have done a pole) I think my kids would prefer more mild than wild slides. Decisions, decisions...
