Hi

We returned from a fab holiday end of June and are thinking of returning later next yr or the yr after. We stayed in a villa which was lovely, but would love to stay onsite, however when we return there will be 5 of us - 2 adults and 3 kids (all be 5 and under) so would want more than a hotel room, need something with a living area and bedrooms and a kitchen/eating area - which resort in Disney does this???

Thanks
Nat

There are a few to choose from.

Fort Wilderness Campground - This is log cabins

The following resorts are associated with the Disney vacation club. You can either rent out points from a member, see the discussion board. This is the cheapest way of staying or book direct with Disney. I don't know any holiday companies that sell these resorts. They used to, but I haven't seen any for a long time.

Boardwalk Villas - Walking distance to Epcot & Studios. Studios, 1 beds, 2 beds and grandvillas.

Beachclub Villas - Walking distance to Epcot and Studios. Studios, 1 beds and 2 beds.

Wilderness Lodge villas - boat ride from WDW. Studios, 1 beds and 2 beds.

Old Key West - A boat ride from Down town Disney. Studios, 1 beds, 2 beds and grand villas.

There is another DVC resort Saratoga Springs opposite Down town Disney.

Just to elaborate on the DVC accommodations so that you can see whether they would suit your family:

Studios sleep 4 (two queen sized beds or one bed + one sleeper sofa) + one child under 3 in a cot

One bedroomed villas sleep 4 (one king size bed + one queen sleeper sofa in living area) + one child under 3 in a cot

Two bedroomed villas sleep 8 (one king size bed + two queen size beds + one queen size sleeper sofa in living area) + one child under 3 in cot

Grand villa sleep 12 (one king, four queens + queen sleeper sofa in living area) + one child under 3 in cot

The studios have limited self catering facilities - a microwave, sink and fridge + paper plates, plastic cutlery, etc.

All units larger than the studios have full kitchen plus washing machine and drier.

The cheapest option is the cabins at Fort Wilderness, some people get put off by the thought they are basically fixed caravans, but the people I know who've stayed there say they offer great accommodation and in a unique setting.

The DVC resorts offer great accommodation but cost TOP $$$ , you can check the http://www.dreamsunlimitedtravel.com for the best rates from Disney, but the cheapest option is to rent points from a DVC memebr, still a lot more than staying in a villa off site

We normally stay in a two bedroom villa at OKW. However in 2000 we stayed in one of the cabins at Fort Wilderness. My DD's who were 3 and 6 at the time loved the place. We found it a fun place to stay. There were lots of activities for young children, including an animal petting area. In fact the only negative thing that I have to say is, there is not a lot of room to put your clothes. There were 4 of us and there was no way that I could unpack all of our luggage. If I remember rightly there were 4 smallish drawers and a small closet area. We ended up putting our suitcases on the bed and our DD's slept in the bunkbeds. I know that some people don't like the cabins because they think it takes too long to get to and from the parks etc. but we did not find that to be a problem.

Thanks for that Catherine, we're staying for 3 nights at Fort Wilderness Cabins in 2 weeks time and I'm still in two minds about it!!!

Previous times we've stayed in Disney we've been at the Poly but this time my Dad is coming along so we need the extra room. It was a toss up between 2 rooms at Caribbean Beach Resort - $80 x 2 = $160/night or 1 Cabin @ $160/night.

Hope I'm doing the right thing!!!!

Lisa
