We would like for our children to recognize character's on the cruise and also statues or pictures of various character's from movies. F :confused3 or example, I know that one of the dining rooms has Belle on the wall and so we have seen Beauty and the Beast. Are there other character's, like from toy story in oceaners club, what's his name...the silver guy....see, I could use some help too and our cruise is only 28 days away.....Help me, I'm a Disney illiterate...

Since they added Pirate Night, Peter Pan would be a good bet, along with Toy Story (either one) so you can get acquainted with Buzz Lightyear. Chip and Dale can be found in lots of the Disney Shorts, or you can look for copies of the show "Chip & Dale's Rescue Rangers". But any of the classic should be fine.

On our first cruise the kids were just 3 & 5 & they were NOT going to watch Peter Pan or even Snow White but I did get books with all of the princesses & the other main characters in them so that they recognized them. The only one that startled them & they weren't sure about was Stitch. They still have never seen a cartoon with him in it...and wont for a long time if I have anything to do about it since they come up with enough antics & sassing on their own. :) Seeing the characters did get them interested in seeing those movies though. In fact, they watched Peter Pan for the first time on the ship one night after the late show. They never got past the first 5 minutes at home before that. I think that meeting Captain Hook made him less scarey too.

Don't worry about all the characters. Our DD 4 only knew a few characters before our cruise. She was so excited to met knew friends. She knew Cinderella, but you should have seen her face when she saw Sleeping Beauty (didn't know anything about her or the movie).

One character we didn't know and had never seen until the cruise was Max Goofy's son. My children also hadn't seen Peter Pan when we went on our second cruise but were obsessed with Captain Hook on the ship. They now are well aquainted with all things disney so this next trip shoud be a blast!

Don't laugh...well, go ahead... when I went on my first cruise as a child, I was petrified that the ship was going to sink... and it was about 2 weeks after Posideon Adventure came out... the TV commercials were EVERYWHERE... my parents had to keep me away from the TV at all costs...

Oh, man, thanks for the laugh!
My son saw Finding Nemo at age 2 and became obsessed with all underwater/ocean things. It is amazing what he knows about fish, whales, sharks, etc! At 3, he is now into dinosaurs with just as much passion.
He has seen Peter Pan and loves it! He acts out scenes, recites lines...he is a very "active" viewer. He has also seen Lilo and Stitch many times.
When my DD was his age she was crazy about all the princesses, especially Cinderella. I let her see all their movies, including the sequels.
Guess I don't get why some parents censor Disney movies? It does bother me that almost all of them have or show a deceased parent...What's with that, anyway?
IMHO, Disney movies (esp. the classics of today and yesteryear) are cultural icons, and to be enjoyed by kids of all ages! (edit added here...was afraid of flames...) I do realize some movies are more enjoyable to kids at older ages...for example, we didn't spend the $$ to take DS3 to the Incredibles because it was long and a bit more violent (in a cartoon way) than Nemo.
But the movies from which Disney parades around the characters seem pretty innocuous in this parent's view!

I think Peter Pan would be a biggie to watch...because of captin hook and Smee...not to mention Wendy Darling ...for The tea with Windy events. The clasic princess movies are also a good one...there's alot of princesses on the ship...some others could be...Alice and Wonderland (The queen of Hearts)...Hercules...And some good old Mickey flicks with Goofy, Pluto, Donald, Dasiy, and of course Mickey and Minnie.

In the Golden Mickey's show onboard they show segments from Tarzan, 101 Dalmations, Lilo & Stitch, Toy Story.....

And in Hercules they obviously have the characters from that movie. I think it helps to the see the animated Hercules to understand/enjoy the Hercules stage show onboard.

And in Disney Dream, of course they have Aladdin, the little mermaid, the Cinderella, B&B etc.

Oh, I guess you have watch all of the disney movies!!! I have been obsessed with Disney my whole life so we have always had all the movies in the house...my kids grew up with a decorated Disney house and been to WDW 20 plus times so they are all very familiar with all the characters....they call me a character sometimes as well.

On the last night of the cruise they have just about every character, show performer out in the atrium for a meet and greet and photo op so it would good for them to be familiar with the characters so it is not overwhelming onboard.

Never understood why the Pooh characters are not onboard?

Here are some pics of "Till We Meet Again" in the atrium....

Dont forget to look for those gates that they lock for the lower decks when the ship sinks......................

There are some Disney Sing-a-long videos that are great because they have lots of characters in them. There's a camp out at WDW and a beach one. We also have a Disneyland one.

The DL one has prompted DS7 to always wanting to go to DL to ride the Matterhorn! Now he will with our West Coast cruise/DL trip!!! :Pinkbounc

If you want to participate in the Family Trivia Game Show (Mickey Mania I think) or hope to do well if you are picked in Who Wants to Be a Mousekeeter you need to see Fantasia, Peter Pan and Alice and Wonderland. We've cruised 3 times and always are amazed at the amount of questions asked from these 3 movies.
